Christ Child Academy Newsletter
December 6, 2018
From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger
As we enter into the Advent season, please be mindful of your preparation for the coming of Jesus. This is an excellent time to reflect on where you are in your spiritual journey. How is your prayer life? If it is not where you would like it, what are you willing to do to re-establish a stronger relationship with Jesus?
The midpoint of Quarter 2 is today. Mid-Quarter 2 grades will be available to view on-line at Power School for grades 4 – 8 on the morning of Tuesday, December 11th.
The Catholic Schools’ Band Concert was at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton last evening. The students’ hard work was evident in the beautiful Christmas music. Three CCA students preformed solos: Bryce McDonough (8) on alto saxophone, Bradyen Hammond (6) on alto saxophone, and Anna Minneci (5) on flute. Thank you to the students and Mrs. Paula Harder, band director, for an inspiring concert.
Christ Child Academy received a thank you letter from the VA Hospital in Madison for the Veterans Day cards the students created on Veterans Day. "On behalf of the William S. Middleton Memorial Va Hospital patients and staff, we would like to extend our appreciation to you for your donation of Veterans Day cards. It is through the efforts of community partners like you that allow us to continue the quality care and services that we seek to provide our deserving Veterans. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you again for future events. Thank you for your continued support."
The CCA Chorus Christmas Concert will be December 12th at IC church at 6:00 pm. This is for students in grades K-8th grades. Students are to be in their classrooms at 5:30 pm. The church doors open at 4:30 pm.
No Carrier today.

Fill-A-Tin Cookie Event
The Home & School Committee is once again hosting a Fill-a-Tin Cookie Event and we need your help! Now that the baking season is upon us, please consider donating some of your homemade goodies to be sold in tins after the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday, December 9th at Immaculate Conception Parish. We are looking for any Christmas treats, including mini breads, cookies and candies. Please let us know what and how much you can bake up for this delicious fundraiser so that we can plan accordingly. Also, PLEASE label any items containing peanuts. All items should be brought to school in a disposable container and dropped off on the cart outside the office on Friday, December 7th or brought to the back of church before mass on Sunday.
We are also in need of a few people to help fill the tins.
Thank You and Happy Baking!
CCA Christmas Choral Concert
The Christmas Choral Concert will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:00 pm. All students in grades K-8 are to report to their classroom at 5:30 pm. All students should wear their “Sunday Best” dress attire.
The preschool programs will be held Thursday, December 20th in Immaculate Conception Church with 3K at 8:30 am and 4K at 10:30 am.
Recordings and lyrics can be found at: christchildacademymusic.weebly.com. Printouts of the lyrics have also been sent home with the students in grades K-3. Any practice kids do at home will only enhance our performance.
Sheboygan Progressive Care Center Gift Drive
Twice a year, during the Halloween and Christmas seasons, the CCA middle school visits Progressive Care Nursing Home to decorate pumpkins and sing Christmas carols with the residents. Many of our students build relationships with the residents they see each time, and the residents are glad for the company. This year, in order to make our visit especially meaningful, the Student Service Council will be running a drive for items to bring as gifts for the residents to entertain and enjoy. If you have any of the following that you would like to share, please drop them off on the table outside the school office for the middle school students to wrap and deliver: books, crosswords/word searches, coloring supplies, or games.
School Choice Update for 2019-2020
With the full support of the Christ Child Academy Governance Board and Finance Committee, the Tri-Parish Pastoral Council and all three parishes finance councils, Christ Child Academy is excited to announce that we intend to participate in the statewide Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) for the 2019-2020 school year. The WPCP allows students throughout the State of Wisconsin to attend private and religious schools tuition-free through a voucher provided by the state. Below is the full School Choice announcement. Brenda Binversie has been hired as our new School Choice Coordinator and will assist the application process.
School Mass & Field Trip Attire
Students are to wear their CCA polo shirts with the logo along with dress or Khaki pants or a skirt for the girls for all Mass days and on all field trips, unless otherwise denoted. Polo shirts are to be tucked in for both boys and girls for Mass. Any additional items such as sweaters or vests must have the CCA logo and be worn over the polo shirt. These additional items are available on the Land's End website. Yoga pants are not to be worn to Mass except under a skirt and in a solid color. Students volunteering at the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry are to wear Mass attire as this is considered an off-site field trip.
Salvation Army Belling Ringing
In anticipation of Catholic Schools Week at the end of January, we encourage the all the friends & families of Christ Child Academy to take part in service opportunities this holiday season. One way we can make a difference is by ringing bells for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Drive. Please sign up to help with this worthy cause and have some fun together as a family.
The Salvation Army needs your help to ring in the Christmas season and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. All proceeds from the Red Kettle Campaign stay in the area to support vital programs such as our 45-bed homeless shelter, community food pantry, wellness clinic, youth groups, utility assistance and Christmas gift programs.

Recycle Old Christmas Cards
As the time of year to send Christmas cards approaches, please consider “recycling” any cards you may have saved from last year. As an annual service project, the CCA Middle School students assemble holiday ornaments, made from old Christmas cards, and present them to the residents at Progressive Health Care Center. Because twenty cards are used in making each ornament, we are in need of old Christmas cards. Simply tear off the “picture part” of the cards (we do not use the “verse part” of the cards) and bring them to school. What a great way to “recycle,” as we bring holiday cheer to the residents at Progressive Health Care Center. Thank you!
BINGO
The next Bingo is on Saturday, December 29th – All Grades are responsible for volunteering. Please take a look at the sign up ASAP and find a time slot to work. There are also opportunities to donate food, cash or gift cards. Many hands make for light work. Thank you for your support!
Always accepting gift cards for Wal-mart, Festival & Miesfeld’s to cover costs.

CCA Calendar Raffles
One of our main fundraisers each year is the Annual Calendar Raffle. The money raised help to keep our tuition rates as low as possible. The Calendar Raffle is a pocket calendar that features special events throughout the year at Christ Child Academy as well as some advertising. We will draw $30 winners every day of the school year. On special holidays that are listed, the cash payout is $200! The cost per Calendar is just $20.00.
As in past years, each family will receive 20 calendars to sell. This is the minimum number that we would like each family to sell. Our goal is to sell 2500 calendars for a net profit of about $40,000!!
All calendars must be sold and turned in by January 2nd, 2019 (First day back after Christmas break). State law prohibits us from selling calendars past the first drawing. We encourage you to turn the tickets in as they are sold; please do not hold on to them as we want to make sure that none get lost or forgotten.
Make sure to take the raffles with you to family get-togethers. The calendars also make great birthday or Christmas gifts for your friends and family.

2018 Annual Fund Appeal
This year, we have added a new feature for your convenience. We have partnered with GoFundMe to accept online donations for our Annual Fund Appeal.
Safeguarding All God's Family
If parents or grandparents plan to participate in field trips, work in the lunchroom, coach, or help out at school, you must attend a Safeguarding All God’s Family training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. You must register on-line at www.archmil.org and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.
Box Tops for Education
CCA can earn money from clipping Box Tops found on various products. When you buy items, simply clip the Box Top and bring it to CCA. The Box Tops are submitted, and our school receives a check which is used towards our activity fund. It’s another easy way for you to help the school by purchasing the products you already use! Enlist your family, friends and neighbors to collect the Box Tops, too.
Kwik Trip Milk Moola
CCA will receive 5¢ (five cents) for each cap or milk bag top they redeem from Nature’s Touch® products. The program will only accept specially marked caps and bag tops that feature the Milk Moola symbol. Thank you to Paula Hilbert, who has been overseeing this program for many years!
