NPA Family Update

Assignment Sheet #4 week of November 9, 2020

November @ NPA

Greetings NPA families. This is our fourth communication home in this format which is planned to coincide with the new assignment sheet for your student(s). Did your student meet the attendance/work completion goal for assignment sheet #3?

The example assignment sheet #4 below is for a Tuesday student. A reminder that attendance = work completed within an independent study school such as NPA. This assignment sheet #4 demonstrates that there are 16 days of possible attendance. If you are unfamiliar with the NPA assignment sheet (we are welcoming some new families this month), please check out this video for a brief overview.

And a reminder, that if NJUHSD is required to close its schools for any reason (such as a PSPS day), the NPA campus is closed as well and no individual student/teacher meetings will occur. Fingers crossed we won't have any more of those! As planned, the NPA campus will be closed on 11/11 (Veteran's Day) and 11/25-11/27 (Thanksgiving).

Happy November to you all. We are grateful for our wonderful NPA families and amazing NPA students! Please take a few minutes to scroll through the information below.

NPA Parent/Guardian/Caregiver input needed and valued

Our annual CA Healthy Kids Survey parent survey is available now. We urge you to click HERE and give us your feedback. This data is collected anonymously and it is critical that we hear from you so we can continue to improve NPA. The NPA faculty takes this survey and its results seriously and are grateful for your time completing it.

Academic Interventions at NPA

The NPA intervention data team meets weekly to review student work completion and attendance. All students are considered in Tier 1 but once it is identified that a student is in need of additional support, we consider the student as moving into Tier 2 or 3. This is a timely intervention that will prompt additional academic and/or social/emotional support. Several steps that occur next which may include a phone call home or a letter home.

The tiers of support are fluid and it is our hope that with a team effort any identified student may be moved back to tier 1. If you hear from NPA to discuss work completion and/or attendance, know that this is support. We believe we have created a system where no student could "fall through the cracks."
