The First Day of Fall This Week!

We began a fall theme for many of our learning activities this past week, including reading and sequencing ideas from informational text for picking apples.

Coming up this next week, we have another fun, fall day when the Farm Park comes to visit CARES on Friday!

QR Codes for Reading Coming Home Next Week!

Have you seen these?

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is a barcode designed to be machine-readable. It contains information about the item to which it is attached.

Another tool for learning.

This upcoming week, your child will be bringing home some QR codes for online books that they have just started accessing in class. These simple e-books also have audio for students to read along as text is read aloud. If you would enjoy having access to these books on your child's device at home, the QR codes are pretty simple to use.

How do I "scan" a QR code?

There are free iPad apps that allow you to scan and read these codes. The one we use on the classroom iPads is Inigma. Students simply open the app and take a "picture" of the code and it takes them directly to the book listed on the card! This is another way to encourage your child to learn to enjoy reading!
