Continuing Ed. Connection
September 2021
Important Reminders:
SafeSchools Courses Are Due TODAY!
The one exception to this deadline is if you are a new hire. Anyone that is new to the district or is a late hire will have until October 1, 2021, to complete the required training.
For more information, click HERE.
Don't forget; if you are planning to use your SafeSchools courses as exchange time, they must be completed during non-contract time. You will need to submit your certificates in Strive as well. Directions can be located HERE. Do not worry that the certificates are not timestamped; we have access to those details and will confirm that the training you submit qualifies for exchange time.
GISD Courses Count for Exchange Time!
Registration is open in Strive, so reserve your spot today!
Exchange Days Need to be Completed!
Exchange time has to be earned before it is exchanged in November. This time must be earned off contract! That means courses completed during the workday will not qualify.
If hours are earned through in-district workshops, they will tabulate automatically in an employee's Strive portfolio. If employees complete out-of-district training, certificates need to clearly indicate a date/time stamp to ensure they adhere to the off-contract expectation. If a certificate only lists the date, it needs to be a weekend day in order to be approved.
More details and information can be found in the August Continuing Ed. Connection.
If you need more information on submitting credit requests, it can be located HERE.
Amazing Team Additions!
Look at these fabulous new team members we added to Team GISD this year! They rocked New Lions Orientation, and they are still keeping the momentum going!

September Focus: Keep Building the Team
Every day, we have the chance to work together and create the best experience possible for students, parents, and each other. Winning teams do this by focusing on what's important.
Teams that succeed...
Build Connection!
- Teams succeed because they value each other and connect to each other. Building connection means celebrating each other's successes, working to collaborate, and making time for each other. Show your teammates that you value them. Listen to others and let them know you are grateful for their contributions to the team!
- When things get tough, and we know they will, Team GISD will need to tackle challenges together. Great teams rely on each other to problem solve and pull through in hard times. Take care of your teammates and have their backs. We are in this together, especially on the hard days!
- Teams cannot reach success without having trust and respect. Prioritize building relationships. When we know each other better, we can trust each other more. Be honest and supportive; do what you can to help your teammates. Be supportive, accepting, and encouraging. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Each time you work on building trust in the team, the team gets stronger!
Push Beyond "good!"
- Do not settle. To become the best possible version of Team GISD, we have to push each other toward more. If we settle for "okay," that is where we will stay. We need to motivate each other to strive for more and work together to reach our goals. Keep the team expectations high and help each other reach them!
We are here to help. If you have any questions about training or exchange time, please let us know.
