Principals Message
Dear John Tuck Families,
Here we are headed into the final sprint of the year! The sun is finally coming out and we are busy helping students work to master their grade level learning concepts while also working in many experiential learning activities. In case you missed it, we are hosting two separate sessions of an Arts, Music and Theatre camp right after school is out, thanks to some Federal funding that was specifically earmarked for the Arts. As we close out the year, I want to encourage all of us to continue to work on reinforcing kindness, responsibility and respect in all we do. The time to educate our children is so precious. Every single day truly matters and we are feeling the crunch of helping each student learn at the highest level in preparation for the next grade. We thank you, our families, for working hard to get them to school, set regular bedtime routines, help them learn organizational skills while them to be great citizens.
We hope to see all of you at our many events coming up over the next few weeks!
Respectfully,
Dusty Porter

Character Traits: Kindness and Loyalty
Social Emotional Lessons: Transition and Reflection (K-5)
It’s refreshing to see the daffodils and tulips popping up! I hope you and your families are finding fun and restful moments together this spring.
We will complete our Social Emotional Lessons in May; wrapping up with some reflection on the year and highlighting the skills we have learned, while thinking forward to the summer and the start of the next school year. We will use this opportunity to process and reflect on two major transitions students are facing: the transition out of this school year and the transition into a new school year. This will allow us to norm some of the emotions and experiences students are facing while providing strategies to cope with challenging emotions, such as fear or anxiety. In 5th grade, we will specifically focus on prepping for Middle School; discussing independence, confidence and how to take initiative.
Below I have attached a graphic of ideas to continue building social emotional skills at home!
Best to each of you!
