December 18, 2017

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! Refresh and recharge your batteries - and we'll see you in the new year!

Upcoming Professional Development

Tech Retreat

April 20 - 22, 2018 is our 4th Annual Tech Retreat at Carey Institute for Global Good in Rensselaerville, NY. Beginning Friday evening and going through Sunday noon, you're immersed in technology and comaraderie! Look for information coming soon in your email about signing up and cost.

Rescheduling Shannon Miller

We are working with rescheduling Shannon Miller to get to our area. If you were already signed up, you will still be on the list! We'll let you know as soon as we have more information.

Battle of the Books

Date: March 12, 2018

Place: Skidmore College, Palamountain Hall

We have even more teams for 2018 than we did last year! The BOTB committee is working hard to find space solutions - but we'll figure it out!

We will be getting out an eNewsletter to all participating librarians and coaches right after the holiday to alert them to schedules and training sessions.

Please call or email J’aimé with any questions.

Overdrive Winter Competition

We are once again having our Winter Competition for Overdrive! This will take place starting with the Holiday Recess and going through the February Winter Break. We will officially start counting on December 22, 2017, and the count will end on February 25, 2018. Below you'll find the contest information flyer; or you can also find it on our SLS LibGuide eBooks page.

Fable Learning Now in Overdrive!!

Overdrive has worked very hard with us to get all of the Fable Learning titles into their system after Fable Learning went out of business and I'm happy to say, it's been successful! When you go to the WSWHE Elementary Catalog, click on the "Collections" tab on the upper left where you'll find all of the Fable Learning eBooks together. Of course, you can also search by some of your favorite authors, such as Seymour Simon, or books in Spanish.

State Archives Student Research Award

The Student Research Awards program is a statewide competition open to all New York State students in grades 4-12. A total of three awards are given, one each for students in grades 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. For more information, go to the New York State Archives page. Deadline is July 1, 2018 - still plenty of time!
