- Early checkouts are not permitted after 2:10 pm for student safety.
- Please remember to send in a written and signed note for all transportation changes.
- All visitors must come through the main office and bring a photo ID to sign in.
- If your child is absent from school, a note must be turned in within 3 days of the absence. You may e-mail doctor's excuse notes to Sabrina McWhorter at smcwhorter2@cartersvilleschools.org
- All medications requiring administration at school must be brought to the school by a parent or guardian.
- No outside food or drink may be ordered and sent to the school for students; however, parents may bring food with them for a lunch visit with their child in our cafeteria.
- Be sure to check your child's grade frequently on Infinite Campus, once available. Progress reports will go home at 9-weeks, and report cards will be issued each semester.
- We kindly request all families picking their students up in cars, use the car rider line each afternoon. Car tags are available in the front office. This is for the supervision and safety of our students.
PTC Opportunities:
PTC (Parent Teacher Cooperative)
If you are interested in helping and supporting our PTC, please use the link below to join the CES PTC GroupMe communication group. Our next PTC meeting will be Thursday 11/9 at 8:15 AM in the CES cafeteria. A special thank you to our PTC for coordinating our Spooky Science Night! It was a huge success! We'd love to keep this tradition every fall! Our students loved it!
Book It!
BOOKIT!
This year CES is participating in the BOOK IT! Program to encourage your child to find the joy in reading. The mission of the program is to turn “have to read” into “want to read” and the only way to get better at reading is to take the time to do it! Below is how the program works, along with ideas on how you can get involved at home:
How does it work?
Your student's goal from October to December is to read 20 minutes a day for 30 days. The days do not have to be in a row, so if you have to skip a day here and there, that is okay. When you bring your completed form back to the Media Center, you will receive a coupon for a FREE personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! The last day you can turn in your form is December 19th.
How can you get involved at home?
- Please review your child’s monthly reading goal and set aside daily reading time at home.
- Be a reading role model and showcase how reading is a daily part of life – cookbooks, magazines, comics, instruction manuals, etc.
- Celebrate your child’s reading accomplishment by redeeming their Reading Award Certificate at Pizza Hut for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza®.
Cybersecurity Family Activity
Kids today may seem like experts at using technology, but the digital world requires all kinds of skills and habits that kids don’t just pick up as they go. Digital citizenship helps them learn those skills. Common Sense Media has created lessons that help kids develop healthy media habits and learn how to be safe online. In our Computer Science class, we implement digital citizenship lessons that focus on topics such as screen time and online safety etc., but parents also play a big role in teaching their children how to safely navigate the digital world as well. This month we are providing you with a lesson on digital footprints, and we would highly encourage you to complete this short activity as a family. Your digital footprint can affect your online reputation for a long time. But kids don't always realize that digital footprints aren't just a personal matter. Show your students how they can contribute to a positive digital reputation, both for themselves and for others. It is never too early to learn about internet safety!
Lost and Found:
Parents and guardians, our Lost & Found area is seeing a lot of lost items! Please help remind your child to:
- Please check for lost items as they are leaving lunch (Lost & Found is located across from the cafeteria).
- Please write names on items so we can help get the item back to the owner. Many items that are being found do not have names on them.
- The Lost & Found will be cleared out at the end of each month, and any remaining items will be donated. Please check for lost items before the last Friday of each month, so no valuables will be donated.
