A Note From Our Director

Hello Knight Families,

This time of year we are often bombarded with events, commitments and deadlines. We are realizing there are only 48 days left until the beginning of a new year. While we are ushering in a wondrous season, in the moment it can often feel overwhelming.

Sometimes when life feels like it is swirling it is hard to see all that we are blessed with. When the Pilgrims were cold and in need of food, they were supported by Native community around them. But the Wampanoag tribe did more than just give them charity. They came alongside the Pilgrims and taught them the skills that were needed to not just survive in the harsh New England conditions, but to thrive.

I see our amazing teachers as the Wampanoag tribe with our students. Sometimes the teachers may seem to be speaking another language (especially when teaching the phonograms), but they are dedicated to helping all the students thrive for the long term. They teach them study skills, logic skills, and communication skills. Our teachers invest in the students’ morale upbring that will bear fruit for generations to come.

So I would like to ask each of you to take a moment this Thanksgiving season and reflect on the blessings that these teachers are to you, to me, to our community and our future.

2021 DCA Angel Tree

The holiday season is upon us. Each year we set up a DCA Angel Tree to bless a few of our families who could use a helping hand during the holidays. In the past years, the DCA Christmas Tree was filled with Angel Tree ornaments waiting to be picked. This year's Angel Tree wishes are available to "pick" online through SignUp Genius. We ask that you consider adopting one or more Angel to help make the holidays a brighter time.

A few important items to note:

  • The deadline to bring your gift to the front office is noon on Friday, December 10th.
  • Be sure to include a tag with the gift ID# so we can deliver it to the correct recipient. An example of the gift ID is (A1).
  • Please wrap gifts unless otherwise noted.
  • Gifts must be new and in their original packaging. It is okay to place gifts in a box for easier wrapping.

Please contact the office with any questions. Thank you very much for your generosity.

Friday is Early Release Day
