Huggins Highlights
Teachers, don't forget, today (Monday, 12/2) is our site visit for the Personalized Learning Cohort 1 committee! Being selected for the first cohort would mean lots of quality training on PL from EdElements that will help us with our personalized learning focus in the 20-21 school year.
Remember that the third cycle of our FLE challenge needs to be completed by the end of the semester! Make sure to let the PL team know when you are trying your second personalized learning lesson using kleb.info/TryFLE (this is the same form as before).
Also, as you plan for these next three weeks, teachers please be mindful of the campus happenings. Friday, 12/13 will be the music department's annual Elementary Holiday Tours, so be mindful that many students in band, choir and orchestra will be out that day. Also, check the finals schedule below if you teach students with high school credit courses.
Parents, I put this in the last brief, but I know you have slept since then...I have had several staff members ask that I remind you to please not text your students during class. Please remember that according to the student code of conduct and the Kleb Acceptable Mobile Use policy you signed at the beginning of the year, if a teacher has indicated that phones are to be away during class, they will be confiscated and you will have to pick them up in the front office. Help us to remind your Bearcubs that phones are only to be used during non-instructional times during the day. Thanks for your help!

We are still looking for WATCH D.O.G.S.!® This is an innovative program focusing on education and safety in schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a two-fold purpose:
1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, male guardians and uncles are asked to spend at least one day at their student’s school volunteering. They will support the school through:
monitoring the school property, working one-on-one or in small groups, reading, helping with work, listening ears, or whatever else needs to be done to PLANT SEEDS OF SUCCESS in the lives of the students.

Parent Reminder--Dismissal Procedures
Car Riders
Car rider parents will turn on Lyons School Road from either Louetta Road or Stuebner-Airline. Parents will enter at the north entrance to the Klein High School student parking lot. Look for the sign. Parents will then form two lanes along the curb, up until the sign indicating the stopping point. When your student arrives, a staff member will direct you to exit past the band and to the right so that you can exit through the south exit of the parking lot. If your student will not be immediately ready to be picked up after school, parents will need to park in one of the parking spots to wait for their child. If you do park in a parking spot to wait for your child, use extreme caution when backing out of the parking space. Students have been instructed to cross to the Klein High parking lot at the cross walk with an employee. See the image below for an aerial view.
As a reminder, there is no afternoon pickup at the front of the school due to the potential safety issue as traffic backs up onto Louetta. Thank you again for understanding our need to keep our Bearcubs safe.
Bus Riders
The first round of buses will be dismissed promptly at 4:25 after a last call for those buses has been made in the cafeteria. Once the first bus begins to roll, for student safety, no student will be allowed to enter the bus lot or get on a bus. After the first bus has started to depart, there is no way to communicate with the driver and it is unsafe for students to be in the bus lot. After the first round of buses has been dismissed, the second round of buses will be called as they arrive and will depart as soon as they have been loaded.

Attendance Counts

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to produce one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):
- Parent Note
- Parent email (within 5 days of absence)
- Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
- Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
- Court note

***If a student is absent for part of the day for a doctor appointment, their absence will be coded as Section 25 (temporary absence) if the student follows the following procedure: The student must return the doctor excuse to the Attendance Office immediately upon returning to school to receive the Section 25 coding for their absence.
If a student does not produce one of the items listed above within the allotted timeframe, that absence will be considered unexcused and counted toward their total semester absences.
Klein ISD takes attendance very seriously, and we want to see your child succeed at Kleb. If you have any questions regarding attendance, please feel free to contact the attendance office or your assistant principal.
