“McMillen High School: A positive environment where we motivate, encourage and empower all students to take ownership of their academic and personal growth.”
Shout Out
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I just wanted to point out how wonderful Maysaa Enaya is. She goes to these games and supports her students even though it can be time-consuming. She always strives to build trust and appreciation in her student relationships. This goes a very long way with these young men and women. She attends JV games as well in order to support her past students. To have a teacher in a young person’s life who shows them that they care about more than the papers they turn in on time is priceless. I can still name the teachers who came to my first football games in 1976! It means something. Coach Wallace
To Ingrid Goslin picking up the initial PLC meeting facilitated by Inge Stovall. She and her team decided to look at real-time data to identify students areas of growth. As a team, the have a plan to address those deficits in an effort students will demonstrate mastery.
To Denetra Dancer, Patrica Campos and Sarah Sarah Davidson:
On last week, I was asked by Kris to find a family who lives in Murphy who are in need of Christmas assistance. Ever year The Murphy Fire Department adopts a family for Christmas. At first, it was a struggle because most of our families who needs assistance lives in Plano. A day later Sarah responded back to the email with a name. This student moved here from Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria. His family lost everything. Jeremy and his family is currently living with his uncle and his family in Murphy.
On yesterday, Patricia and I met with mom to inform her that they have been selected of being a finalist to receive Christmas assistance. The mom was so happy, but also could not believe it. The mom provided us a wish list of wants/needs for everyone in the home.
I received a call this morning to inform me that our family was chosen to receive Christmas Assistance from the Murphy Fire Department and community. The Fire Department will also be decorating the outside of the family home within the next few days for Christmas as well.
Just want to share this amazing news to you all.- Denetra Dancer

It is very easy for both parents and teachers to misconstrue the message and tone of an email. When you find yourself going back and forth in an email with a parent, I ask that you pick up the phone or meet with a parent face-to-face to make sure everyone is on the same page. Your last email to the parent may read, "Just to make sure I understand your concern, I will give you call, or feel free to give me a call at ....." At the end of the day, both teacher and parent want the student to be successful.
