A+ Scholarship and Peer Helping
Junior and Senior first-semester peer helpers have completed their hours and must turn in the time calendar and teacher rubric to receive a passing grade and have hours recorded. Some students will not quite make the required 50 hours and will need to make up a few hours. There are opportunities available next semester to complete these hours.
A senior up to date letter was mailed letting parents know where their student stands on meeting the requirements to receive the scholarship. Students planning to utilize the A+ Scholarship in the upcoming summer and/or fall must have the FAFSA filled out and apply to the community college or trade school in Missouri.
Seniors graduating in May will know they met requirements as they checkout.
Certain circumstances requiring an attendance appeal are due by April 15th. Please check the District Website, under counseling, success ready for the conditions and form.
Please contact Bev Hartland if you have any questions at 816-858-2822 extension 1205.

FLU Reminders from the Platte County Health Department
- Promote regular handwashing among children particularly after handling used tissues or using the restroom and before eating or preparing food. Hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of communicable disease!
- Keep your children home from school if they have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, until at least 24 hours after symptoms end.
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched environmental surfaces and equipment as well as high-traffic areas: Frequently touched surfaces include, but are not limited to, commodes, toilets, faucets, hand railing, telephones, door handles, computer equipment, and kitchen preparation surfaces.
- After throwing up or having diarrhea, immediately clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces.
- Use a chlorine bleach solution to clean and disinfect surfaces. (Up to 3 times per day)
Immunization Information
Missouri School Immunization Requirements
ATTENTION ALL JUNIOR STUDENTS!
As a reminder, all students entering the 12th grade are required to have the MCV (Meningococcal Conjugate) vaccine PRIOR TO the start of their senior year, unless they have an exemption. You DO NOT have to wait to be a senior to get this vaccine. You can get it as soon as you turn 16 years old. If you are 16 years old now and have an upcoming appointment with your physician, don’t delay! You can get that immunization now so you don’t have to worry about it at the beginning of the 2020 school year.
The MCH (Meningococcal Conjugate) vaccine you got around the 8th grade DOES NOT COUNT as this vaccine. You need ANOTHER ONE.
PCHS is working with the Platte County Health Dept. (PCHD) on a spring immunization clinic here at school, where that immunization can be given. Keep watching here for updates!
Meal Payments
Parents can deposit money for meal transactions through K12PaymentCenter. Parents can access K12PaymentCenter via this link or via the links icon on Parent Portal. In addition to allowing for better and faster service to students during meal times at school, the online portion of the new system provides a much-needed update to District tools. Transactions up to $100 will receive a flat transaction fee of $1.95; transactions above $100 will receive a transaction fee of 2.99% of the total.
Parents can still deposit money for meal transactions by sending payment via check or cash to their child's school.
If you do not have access to Parent Portal - please call the high school office for balance information at 816-858-2822 x1300.

Bullying and Safety Concerns
Safety is one of our district’s top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert.
Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.
Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to learn!
