Getting Festive
Christmas Arts Day
Across the school children have engaged in a range of Christmas arts and crafts activities, making cards, wreaths, Christmas cakes and even 3D baubles!
The children have really enjoyed having a creative day and have produced some lovely work.
School Update
The season of Advent has been quite different this year, however staff in school are ensuring that Christmas is still suitably celebrated. Our Nativity will be released next week and I do hope you will join with everyone in school when we watch the Year 2's new movie on Thursday 17th December at 11am.
End of term
You may have seen in the press that on Wednesday afternoon, the Department For Education suggested that schools may move one of their training days from the spring or summer term to the last Friday of this term (Friday 18th December). This is to reduce the monitoring period for track and trace. As a school, we feel it is unfair on parents and cares to make this change at such short notice. Therefore, the school will be open on Friday 18th December and will reopen after Christmas on Tuesday 5th January 2020. Thank you for your understanding.
Track and Trace
After the end of the term the school is still required to notify Public Health England about positive COVID19 cases up until Thursday 24th December. If a member of our school family tests positive within this period (Saturday 19th December - Thursday 24th December), please do email admin@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk as soon as possible. I will be monitoring this email account and will make contact with families at an appropriate time following receipt of any notification.
Kind regards
Steven Holmes
Headteacher

The Friends of Ripon Cathedral School
We hope you have all read our very own news update sent out earlier this week by email and social media. The link above takes you to our section of the school website, where you will find another link to the newsletter.
Please remember to buy your tickets for our amazing raffles. Purchase is made online using your ParentPay account. The raffles will be drawn on Monday so the last chance to buy is Sunday evening. We have had three more prizes donated for the main raffle and the hampers are looking great, with really full boxes of goodies. Photos are on our Facebook page (link below).
Can you guess the weight of this amazing Christmas Cake? It is 50p a turn. There are 32 options to choose from on the poster! One of these is the correct weight, choose wisely! We have extended this competition to the end of next week, so there is still time to make a guess and pay on ParentPay. Details on our Facebook page (link below).
Our grateful thanks go to Maureen Anderson who has kindly made and donated the Christmas Cake. Please take note of the ingredients: Self raising flour, eggs, sugar, lemon zest, mixed spices, flaked almonds, hazel nuts, butter, glace cherries, sultanas & raisons.
