We are so thrilled to invite your student to participate in Impact, the Anacortes School District’s exciting summer learning program! Impact is a FREE four-week program designed to strengthen academic and social-emotional skills. Though academic learning is the primary focus, we will have a lot of fun along the way!


Impact offers small class sizes (approximately 10 students per class) and is geared toward students who show significant promise for academic improvement with the support of additional learning opportunities.

DAILY ATTENDANCE REQUIRED THROUGHOUT SESSION


Program Dates: July 6-30, Monday thru Friday (begins Tuesday, 7/6 since Monday 7/5 is an observed holiday)


Hours: 8:30 am to 11:30 am daily (parent drop-off starting at 8:15 am is permissible)


Transportation: Parent drop off/pick or by school bus at designated stops


Location: *UPDATED* Fidalgo Elementary located at 13590 Gibralter Rd, Anacortes, 98221


Lunch (upon request): Daily lunch provided for free


NO COST to enrolled students.


Participants must follow health and safety guidelines as described by ASD which may include: wearing masks, practicing social distancing, frequently sanitizing hands, etc...

DAILY HEALTH SCREENING FORMS ARE NOT REQUIRED at this time by the DOH.

First Day of the Program: There will be NO BUS transportation TO school on this day. Bus transportation FROM school, starting this first day, will be provided only for students with completed bus forms (see below). Bring your student sometime between 8:15 -8:30 am to Fidalgo Elementary at the "Student Drop Off/Pick Up" area at the southeast end of campus (see attached campus map below). Plan to stay in your car during drop off. Staff will meet you curbside to help your child safely exit the car and direct them to their teacher. Plan for the first couple days of pick up and drop off to take a little longer and please be patient.


Student Pick Up: If your child is not taking the bus, you will pick them up at Fidalgo Elementary at the "Student Drop Off/Pick Up" area at the southeast end of campus (see attached campus map below). You will remain in your car at pick up and stay in the pick up line until your child is in the car. PLEASE MAKE A SIGN TO HOLD UP FOR OUR STAFF TO READ WITH: CHILD'S FIRST AND LAST NAME and the GRADE THEY WILL ENTER IN THE FALL. Our staff will direct your child to your car. Please be patient and allow time for all families and staff to be safe in this process.


Bus Transportation: If your student will take the bus to and/or from school, you will need to complete and return the bus form (click on "Transportation-Bus" link below and select "Summer Impact @ Fidalgo" as school for attendance) after careful review of the bus schedule and stops. Bus schedule/stops can be viewed below. Note that stops and schedule are different from the regular academic year. You must complete and submit the bus form in advance of your student taking the bus. If your child is entering kindergarten or first grade, we ask that an authorized adult or guardian plan to meet/wait with the child at the stop when/until the bus arrives. If your student will typically get picked up by the AM bus and will be absent on a specific day, please contact the bus garage at 360-503-1155.

Shoes and Clothing: Closed-toe shoes should be worn every day of the program for the protection of your student. Dress children in appropriate clothing for being physically active and outside; wearing layers is a good idea! Please label your student’s clothing with their name. Wearing shorts under skirts/dresses is strongly recommended.


What to Bring: Students are asked to bring backpacks daily but they do not need any other school supplies. Each child will receive a folder which they will bring to and from school every day. We recommend children bring a water bottle to school everyday and apply sunscreen to your student daily before school.


Lunch: Free lunch is provided for families who signed up by June 17th. Students will not eat lunch at school. They will bring the lunch home. Please do not send food to school with your child. Be sure to feed your child breakfast just before leaving home for school. We appreciate your assistance with this as it helps adhere to COVID safety precautions.


Volunteers: We are unable to include volunteers in our summer program. The ratio of program staff to enrolled child will be approximately 1:5 during classroom learning time.
