Hello Northpoint Community,
Another month has flown by. Here we are ready to welcome March! These past five weeks with children in the building have given our entire Northpoint team such energy and smiles! The children are doing a terrific job following routines for safety and learning. Thank you to our teachers for establishing and practicing these expectations. We have had very few incidents of COVID-19 and reasons for quarantine. We will remain diligent and know how fortunate we are to be able to stay in school.
Conferences are winding down and I’ve heard positive feedback about conversations using each child’s learner profile and map to guide the discussion. Across Spring Lake Park Schools these living documents support our efforts in personalizing the education experience for our children. If you have any follow up questions, concerns, or information to share, please reach out to your child’s teacher at any time. While conferences are scheduled twice a year, it is the ongoing partnerships that make the difference!
In March we are excited to celebrate “I Love to Read” month. You may have already seen the calendar of events we have planned for our in-person learners. We will kick things off on Monday, March 1 with Crazy Socks day. Other events that first week include “dress like you are 100 years old”, Wacky Wednesday dress up day, Thing 1 and Thing 2 matching day, and pajama day.
Families of fourth graders – Intro to Westwood virtual information sessions are this Thursday, February 25. We don’t want you to miss this opportunity to learning more about the transition to 5th grade at Westwood.
This is the week to make any requests to change learning models for Trimester 3. If your family wants to request a change from Extended Flexible Learning to attending school at Northpoint daily or from attending school at Northpoint to Extended Flexible Learning, please contact Heidi Rogers in our office by Friday, February 26. Please note that any change request will impact your student’s teacher and class roster. If you wish to remain in your current learning environment, no action is needed.
The Panthers for a Purpose virtual giving event is this Saturday, February 27 at 7 p.m. (Silent auction will be open until 8:30 p.m.) Get a sneak peek of what to expect in the video included in today’s newsletter. You are seriously not going to want to miss this free, fun experience. You may even see some familiar faces as you participate in this online event for an excellent cause!
Have a great rest of the week. Let us know if there is anything you need or want us to be aware of.

Updates for Extended Flex Learning families
Greetings,
We are heading into the third trimester of this school year. How can that be? This has been a year of learning for so many of us, children and adults alike. Distance learning has been an opportunity for growth and skill building; in some ways expected and many ways unexpected. It has been extremely rewarding for the staff who are focused on Extended Flexible Learning and for me. We continue to appreciate hearing your stories.
There are a couple of items in this week’s newsletter – In Case You Missed It - to remember. Our students can now check out library materials. See the details for each school. And, if you have a fourth grader in your household, please note the opportunity to learn more about Westwood and 5th grade tomorrow, February 25.
Teachers will be reaching out to you when it is time to return Wit & Wisdom Module 1 resources and pick-up Module 2. The next pick-up is being offered at different times for different grade levels based on when the new resources are needed. Details will come from your child’s teacher as the next scheduled pick-up draws near.
If your family wants to request a change from Extended Flexible Learning to learning at school full-time, you can make the request by contacting your school’s office this week (February 22-26). We’ll be working to honor all requests as we begin the new trimester.
The Panthers for a Purpose virtual giving event on February 27 is a great way to celebrate the end of the month while supporting a great cause. Note the details for this event in this week’s newsletter. Please reach out if you have questions or thoughts to share.
Take care,
Kimberly Fehringer

Kindergarten Think-Pair-Share Project
Kindergarten has been learning about how the character, CJ, in "Last Stop on Market Street" uses his senses and how they can add details to their illustrations and writing to make it more interesting. Students used Book Creator with their Think-Pair-Share partner to demonstrate their understanding. Here are a few examples of great work!
