MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
As you’ve already read in Dr. Aumiller’s most recent message, the district will be making the determination about whether it is safe to start our hybrid model of instruction for in person learning on Monday, November 2nd. Whether we are given clearance to start on Monday, November 9th or that day comes later this school year, we’ve prepared this instructional video for parents and students to watch in an effort to help everyone know what to expect if they are coming in person to learn. Please take ten minutes to view this video along with your children so that everyone knows what to expect and can have a successful transition when we get started. We will also be helping all children transition to their new teachers and classmates by hosting virtual gatherings next week with our new classes to meet one another and start building these new communities. More details will be shared by your child’s current teacher. In addition, students who will be coming to school for in person learning will also meet with either Mrs. Brunning, Fairview’s nurse, or Ms. Ciruelas, Fairview’s social worker, in a Zoom breakout room to talk more about how to stay safe while learning at school. We hope these three opportunities will be successful in helping prepare your child for the upcoming changes we have ahead of us. If you or your child has any questions, please email us so we can help!
With Halloween coming up tomorrow, we wanted parents to have an opportunity to participate in a virtual Halloween parade. Thank you to the many families who submitted photos, and special thanks to Ashley Patla, Fairview’s Instructional Technology Coach, for creating this virtual Halloween parade for our community to enjoy. While we couldn’t host our typical in-person parade, we thought this was a good alternative! We hope you enjoy it!
One of the challenges we will face as we head back to in person learning is ensuring we have enough supervision before school each day. While we currently have staff now to fill each needed position, if we ever find ourselves shorthanded, it would be helpful to have a couple parents on hand to fill in. Please fill out this form if you are ever willing to help between 7:45-8:00 a.m. or 12:15-12:30 p.m. throughout the week. Thank you for considering! As we head into Halloween weekend, don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end early Sunday morning. Also, please remember that there is no school on Monday due to our staff institute day or Tuesday due to election day. We look forward to seeing students again on Wednesday. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal
