The Second Semester: TMSE families

The mission of the Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools is to motivate students to discover knowledge, create a better world, and serve in a way that respects others.

TMSE inspires students to be lifelong learners, diverse thinkers, and caring individuals while encouraging international mindedness through inquiry.​

Today I pledge to be a critical thinker. I will be principled and demonstrate integrity with my actions and my words. I will be a caring person and always treat others with respect.

Hope you have had a happy and healthy holiday season. We have had a great start to the new year at TMS-E. The faculty and staff at TMS-E truly appreciate your continued support and cooperation. Thank you for helping us keep our students and TMS-E staff safe and healthy.

We are starting fresh with a new semester. This week we will be working on re-establishing routines and procedures as we get back on track with learning.

Our extended day will begin this Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

We will not have extended day on Monday, January 10, 2022, but it will resume on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Health & Safety & COVID Guidelines - Masks Optional (in building)

  • TCS moved to "masks optional" following Thanksgiving break.

  • Regardless of TCS policy, all students are required to wear masks on the bus.

Nick's Kids Foundation Winner

Congratulations to Second grade teacher, Ms. Jade Hermon! She was TMSE's recepient of the 2021-2022 Nick's Teacher Excellence Award!


Please read these instructions and reminders for a successful experience at the school building:

· School starts at 7:55 am and ends at 2:40 pm.

. To minimize crowding, please plan to drop off your student in the carpool line. Parents are not permitted to accompany their student inside the building.

· Car drop-off and car pick-up will be at the front of the school ONLY.

· Please REFRAIN from cell phone use when in the carpool line. It is important to be completely aware of ALL students!

· Bus zones are located on the south side of the building (near the University Church of Christ.) Please do not enter the bus zones.

· School doors will open each morning at 7:30 am. Students should not arrive at the school before this time. TMSE students who are eating breakfast will go directly to the cafeteria. All other students will proceed directly to their classrooms.

· For the safety of your child, you may not call the school and change the way your child is riding home. You must send a note that morning with your child to give to your child’s teacher. Please do not text or email your teacher regarding transportation. We must have the transportation change in writing or your child will follow their normal routine.
