Academy of Engineering
Computer Integrated Manufacturing:
Students in Computer Integrated Manufacturing have spent several months becoming specialized in a different manufacturing technique. As the end of the year approaches, these students have been instructing their classmates on their specialties. Pictured first is Patrick Brannigan instructing Brayden Walsh and Evan Williams on his thermoset polymer molding technique. Pictured second is Mackenzie Scalzo instructing Simona Mancini and Luke Chapralis on vacuum bagging of reinforced polymer composites.
Introduction to Engineering:
Students of Introduction to Engineering learned how to calculate the surface area and volume of a variety of three-dimensional shapes. Seen below is Allie DiGregorio explaining to some of her classmates how to apply the "order of operations," a technique taught in math class, to the problems at hand.

Spartan Wrestling DIII State Champions! Undefeated!
SCITUATE – While most high school wrestling teams throughout the state saw a significant dip in their turnouts this spring, Scituate High co-head coach Dan Casey saw his second-year program grow from nine to 14 wrestlers, and it looks like he’s going to see another spike next season.
“Obviously, when you go 8-0, kids are going to interested in your team,” said Casey, who is a guidance counselor at the school. “Kids in the hallways have asked me about the team and they want to come out for it.”
Yes, that’s right, the Spartans came into this week with an 8-0 record, and a season after winning four Division II meets and showing steady improvement and signs of promises in their inaugural season, the Spartans have feasted in the RIIL’s new Division III. Last Thursday night inside their gym, they remained undefeated in eight meets by rolling past Johnston and Mount Pleasant.
And Scituate is getting the job done with a very young team, which is led by two of the top freshmen in the state, co-captains Gabriel Bouyssou and Stone Farnsworth, zero juniors, and only three seniors on its roster, 106-pound Logan Farnsworth, 195-pound Nick Burke, and heavyweight Cian Couillard.
“And we have some middle school kids who didn’t have a season this year, but come watch our matches,” said Casey. “(The 8th-graders) are looking forward to joining our team next year.”
“We’re going to definitely continue to improve,” noted co-head coach Serge Bouyssou, who is also the owner/instructor of Mayo Quanchi Judo & Wrestling. “We have some kids like Gabe, who’s a national champion, and Stone that we can build the team around. It’s kind of odd to have two freshmen as your captains, but they’re definitely deserving of those titles.”
Gabriel, who recently earned NHSCA (National High School Coaches Association) All-American honors by taking third place in the 126-pound weight class in the freshman division at the NHSCA Senior Nationals in Virginia Beach, Va., picked up a pair of pins in the 132-pound class last Thursday, and Farnsworth added a pin and a 10-3 victory at 126.
In addition to their freshmen captains and three seniors, the Spartans have seen contributions week in and week out from two sophomores, 113-pound Harrison Peters and 138-pound Kaden Fratus, and two 9th-graders, 120-pound Daisey Hawkins and 145-pound Shawn Cole.
“I think we’re going to do nothing but continually grow,” said co-head coach Bouyssou. “And I don’t think we’re going to be in this division for long. People are starting to look at Scituate as a solid wrestling team, and the next one or two years are going to be big for us. We’re super-excited about it.”
The Spartans will wrap up their schedule today at 5 p.m. with a tri-meet at home against East Greenwich and Narragansett, and after that, all signs point to a one-day RIIL championship meet during the final weekend of the month at the Providence Career & Technical Academy field house, with 16 wrestlers in each of the 14 weight classes expected to vie for state titles.
“I think we could have three or four kids on the podium,” said Casey. “The (COVID) numbers have been better, so hopefully we can get a postseason in.”
