Creston Community News
Week of December 6, 2020
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
I am so proud of the work our students and staff members are putting in to their virtual schooling experience right now. I realize there are some challenges, but we will continue to improve and find ways to make the experience even better. THANK YOU for your support of your student and our school - we are here for you and your family, so please let us know if you need supports, guidance, or help with anything.
HAVE A QUESTION RELATED TO VIRTUAL SCHOOLING?
- Contact your child's teacher(s) for support. Teacher contact information is available HERE.
- Contact your child's school counselor or administrator.
Visit Canvas on your student's Chromebook - Students and families can access nearly all academic resources (schedule information, Zoom links, assignments, and more through CANVAS.)
**Visit our district website's transition to virtual learning page for more information and resources.**
This Week
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday = Black Cohort Instructional Days
Tuesday and Thursday = Gold Cohort Instructional Days
Technology Helpdesk
Families have two options if students have a broken Chromebook:
- Visit CIMS between 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM on school days. Enter door 1, wear a mask, bring your device, and our staff will provide a replacement Chromebook.
- You can visit the helpdesk at Moorhead Community Resource Center at 8400 E. 10th Street, in back of building, from 10:00 - 2:00 Monday through Friday or submit a request here.
Internet Access
To request a T-Mobile hotspot for your student please completely fill out this form. Once your request is processed (usually within 2 business days) the hotspot will be delivered to your student's home school where you may pick it up.
Helpful Hints:
- Four is the maximum number of devices that should be connected per hotspot for the best speed. Connection speed can also slow down significantly if the hotspot is being used for any type of streaming (Netflix, Hulu, etc) or online games.
- If you are having significant issues with a district-issued hotspot, feel free to fill out a help ticket HERE and the technology team will get in touch with you to resolve the issue!
Parent Technology Resources
Check out our Parent & Caregiver Resource page for resources and tutorials on Canvas, ParentVUE, and more must-haves to support your child's learning, all in one place!
School Schedule
5th grade: Students will continue to follow a daily schedule - classes will meet via Zoom every weekday. Schedules are available in Canvas, on each teacher's course page.
6th, 7th, & 8th grades: Students will continue to follow a Black/Gold schedule. They will connect to teachers via Zoom on instructional (black/gold) days, and they will continue to have application days on their non-black/gold days. On Application Days, students should log in to each Canvas course and complete the associated assignments. Students should also log their attendance within Canvas on application days.
ALL STUDENTS (grades 5-8) can access Zoom links to connect with their teachers on each class Canvas page!
IMPORTANT: Attendance
Student attendance for all grades will continue to be tracked by their teacher based on participation in Zoom class sessions. If a student does not attend a scheduled Zoom class, the student will be marked ABSENT. Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 should continue to take their own attendance via the attendance app in Canvas on application days.
Food
Food distribution days will be Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Warren Central High School, Creston, Raymond Park, and Stonybrook Intermediate Middle Schools, and Moorhead Community Resource Center. Tuesday distributions will consist of 4 breakfast meals, 4 lunch meals, and 3 supper meals. Friday distributions will consist of 3 breakfast meals, 3 lunch meals, and 2 supper meals. Menus can be found on our website under Food Service and linked here: https://warren.nutrislice.com/menus-eula.
