Pine View Middle FFA
August & September 2018
What is the FFA?
In 1928, 33 students began a club known as Future Farmers of America. It received a national charter from the government in 1950 that allowed it be an integral part of education that teaches students general agricultural knowledge. The name was changed in 1988 to the National FFA Organization to encompass the growth of agriculture and the change in the nation’s farmers. Today, total national membership is over 650,000 students throughout all 50 states, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
FFA teaches us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting – it’s a science, it’s a business and it’s an art. FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interest in a broad range of career pathways.
So today, we are still agriculturalists. But we are also the future biologists, future chemists, future veterinarians, future engineers and future entrepreneurs of America.
