FMS BLAST
March 21, 2022
Dear Parents:
Spring has sprung and this means that the weather is warming up. We have been reminding students that we all need to be following the district dress code which is in the parent/student handbook on the school webpage. LINK HERE. https://www.fcusd.org/domain/1823
Parents, please help us by reiterating this with your children. Also, we are definitely cracking down on gum chewing, tardies to class, and improper cell phone use. PARENTS CAN CERTAINLY HELP WITH THE LATTER BY NOT TEXTING AND CALLING YOUR CHILDREN DURING SCHOOL TIME. This is extremely distracting, and students are not to be on their phone during the day. Board policy specifically states that middle schoolers can access phones before school, during lunch, and after school. For these violations they will be assigned detention. We have noticed with spring fever has also come a lack of following expectations. Students need boundaries and our job is to set them so that chaos is limited, and the environment is centered on learning for all students.
We are down to the last few weeks before spring break. We want to emphasize the importance of school attendance. Students who miss school are missing out on important instruction. In order for students to not fall behind their peers academically, school attendance is essential.
At this time of year, we are preparing for the spring state testing. Your child’s performance on these assessments impacts their placement in future coursework. We are here to work together with families to prepare students to be ready and proficient for the upcoming school year. Here's wishing everyone a wonderful week and a special spring 2022.
Cordially,
Dr. Terri Daniels
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF STUDENTS IN 7TH GRADE
All students in grade 7 will have the Internet Safety Presentation provided to them by Officer Bates, one of the FCUSD SROs, in their PE class on Monday, March 28, 2022. We encourage parents to follow up this presentation with a conversation at home about the information presented.
The Internet can be a dangerous place and we want to make sure that all our students are prepared to handle the Internet safely. This is an important presentation, and we hope that students will not miss school on this date so they can partake in this experience. For further information, please feel free to reach out to the school administration.
Thank you.

The next SART meeting is via zoom on Monday 3/28/22 at 4:30 p.m. All parents who received the SART letter and/or email regarding the information to attend this meeting are required to attend. According to California Education Code parents of students who have missed a certain number of school days due to absences must attend a SART meeting. Those who do not attend will continue to receive notices for upcoming SART meetings. It is a good idea to sign in and view this important required meeting so that the obligations per Ed. Code are met. The meeting will last approximately 20 minutes. For further information, please contact the school office. Thank you.
BICYCLE SAFETY…….THIS IS A BIG CONCERN!
If your child rides their bike to school, please reiterate with them the need for following safety protocols. The drop off/pick up zone in the parking lot is very dangerous before and after school with the number of cars that are in the lot. Students on bikes have been zooming in and out of the traffic causing a hazard. This is a serious concern. Please make sure you speak with them about being safe while on their bikes. Our goal is to keep everyone safe. They need to be aware.
Thank you for your help with this concern.
Congratulations to Mr. Colondres, named Teacher of the Month by the FMS students. Building relationships with students is extremely important.
Here’s the tribute he received from the students:
Mr. Colondres:
You are a great teacher who brings happiness to your students every day. Even when you're upset you can always be very chill and that’s what a lot of people like about you. You're a great English teacher, and you're always telling stories and letting other students share what is going on in their lives, too. We are happy that you are our Teacher of the Month. Thank you for being a great FMS teacher!
