Week beginning September 7th 2015
General Notices
Children will be completing their INCAS assessments over the next few weeks. Please ensure your child is well rested and comes to school fresh and in a good frame of mind.
Please ensure your child is wearing appropriate school uniform. Reminder please; no jewellery to be worn at school, except watches.
Swim Caps are compulsory for any child with long hair.
Boys MUST wear either the old Kennedy swim shorts or the new purple jammers. No other swimming attire for them is acceptable.
If children want to wear goggles then they must bring their own which have been fitted prior to the lesson.
Please remember to sign your child's reading record after hearing them read each night.
Humans migrate in response to challenges, risks and opportunities
The children will learn through a variety of learning experiences based on the following lines of inquiry and concepts:
Reasons why people migrate (causation)
The impact of migration on people and settlements (change)
The challenges and opportunities of migration (perspective)
Maths
As this is the start of the year we will be focusing on and revisiting our core number skills, with a specific focus on place value: this includes recognizing, ordering, comparing numbers.
English
We are focusing on narrative within this unit of inquiry and the children will enjoy listening to and writing a migration story.
