Robert Hook descovered cells in 1665. He found them in a thin slice of cork he was examining. He named them cells because they reminded him of the ones like people would live in.
Matthis Schleiden
Many years of scientists work have made up the cell theory. In 1838 Matthis Schleiden a German scientist found that animals had cells too.
