Jasper High School Tutorial Schedule
Final Exam Schedule - Fall 2019
Semester Exams are quickly approaching! Please note the exam schedule as listed below.
All families are asked to arrange trips and other absences so that students are present for all exams as scheduled. Students who must miss final exams due to extenuating circumstances and need to arrange to test during an alternate time must first pick up and turn in an Absence Request form from Mrs. Brown in Attendance and then obtain administrator approval from Ms. Murphy PRIOR to exam week. Ms. Murphy will work with students to arrange and coordinate alternate final exam administrations. Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Monday, December 16th, is a normal school day. All seven periods will meet with a regular bell schedule and dismissal at 4:15 pm. Student dismissal will be at 1:00 pm on all exam days, December 17th-20th.
See the final exam tutorial schedule to help guide your student in preparing for exams.
Naviance Tool for Students
Naviance is a comprehensive college, career and life readiness tool designed to help high school students align their strengths and interests to postsecondary goals. Counselors met with students before the Thanksgiving break to discuss goals, career and personality strengths and postsecondary options. While we guide your child through Naviance Student, we encourage you and your family to explore the great features of this system at home. You will be receiving an email generated from Naviance to grant you access to these features if you do not already have access. See the lined presentation to review the features we discussed with students.

DID YOU KNOW? Important Information About Vaping
The safety and well-being of all Plano ISD students are a top priority. Schools across the country have seen a significant increase in the student usage of electronic cigarettes, pens and other vaping devices. Plano ISD has been addressing this issue by talking with students about the health risks and legalities of vaping. Lessons will become available throughout the school year for parents and teachers to share with students. Awareness and refusal skills will be included to help students become informed and empowered to make responsible decisions. As partners in your child’s physical, academic and social emotional development, we want to make you aware of this growing trend and the possible health and legal consequences of vaping.
As of September 1, 2019, vaping is against the law in the state of Texas for anyone under the age of 21. The usage and possession of these products is prohibited at all Plano ISD campuses, buildings, school-related activities and events. Possession and use also violate the Plano ISD Student Code of Conduct and are subject to disciplinary action. Vaping is the act of ingesting oils that contain nicotine, often designed to be smokeless and odorless, from a small electronic device. In addition, these devices can be outfitted with cartridges/pods to hold THC oil (a concentrated form of marijuana/cannabis extracts). Possession of any amount of THC oil is a felony in Texas, which carries a recommendation for mandatory expulsion, placement in the Collin County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program and additional legal consequences.
While we are educating our students about the health and legal dangers of vaping, parents and guardians can view this tip sheet and take the following steps to support the safety and wellness of your children:
- Become knowledgeable about the dangers of vaping.
- Begin an ongoing conversation with your child about the health risks and disciplinary consequences of vaping.
- Restrict your child’s access to vaping and e-cigarette devices.
- Observe your child for signs of possible usage.
The Plano ISD substance abuse prevention team and other district personnel have worked together to develop an informational website aimed at helping families identify and address the safety concerns that substance abuse presents. Please visit www.pisd.edu/substanceabuse to access additional resources. We appreciate your efforts in helping us provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
Reminder - Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
In order to help make drop-off and pick-up as smooth and safe as possible, please be aware of the procedures for student drop off and pick up and understand traffic patterns.
Student Drop Off: No student should be dropped off in the front (north parking lot) of Jasper before school. This includes extra curricular activities at any time. All students should be dropped off in the circle drive or south student parking lot. In the morning, both lanes of the circle drive are drop off lanes. Please make sure your student is aware and watches for traffic in the car and bus lanes as they cross to the student entrance. If you are dropping off in the right drop off lane closest to the building, please watch for students crossing in front of you. The third lane, depicted in red is reserved for busses and students that have special arrangements made through the special education department.
Student Pick Up: All students should be picked up in the south circle drive or south parking lot. There should not be any student being picked up in the north parking lot; this includes tennis players and all fine arts students.
Specific Directions for Circle Drive: Please be aware that the right lane of the circle drive is for pick-up only. Cars may park along the curb and move forward as cars exit the pick up lane. The left lane of the circle drive is not a pick up lane and should be used only for exiting the circle drive only. Please do not stop and block the left lane and do not allow your student to enter your vehicle while you are in the left lane.
Specific Directions for the South Student Parking Lot: Parents are encouraged to utilize the south student parking lot for student pick up. There are certain traffic flow specifics everyone needs to adhere to. Please see the map below for specifics. No one should use the center lane at any point. This is a bus lane only.
Applying for Free and Reduced Price Meals
Plano Independent School District offers free and reduced-price meals to families that qualify for the program. Families who wish to apply for meal benefit need to complete an application every school year. All students approved for free or reduced meals last year will remain on that status for the first 30 operating days of school or until a new application has been processed. We encourage families that qualify meal programs applying online for faster processing.
Please use this website to complete the application online: www.pisd.edu/fansapply
We cannot approve an application that is not complete, so be sure to fill out all required information. Completed applications will be processed within 10 school days.

Building Access for Students
The school day is from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm. We will open our doors for students at 8:00 am. We will have staff members on duty starting at this time to ensure student and campus safety. Students who arrive at this time will be able to sit and wait in the cafeteria. We will dismiss students to their first period class at 8:45 am. If a student needs to arrive to campus prior to 8:00 am, they may wait on the benches along the carpool lane. Students who arrive early for sports or clubs will be given guidance by their coach, director, or sponsor.
All students need to exit the building no later than 4:45 pm unless under the supervision of a staff member.
Student ID Badges
Per PISD policy, all students in grades 9-12 will be required to wear school identification (ID) cards while on school grounds, at after-school activities, and while aboard District school buses. Student IDs and lanyards will be distributed the week of school picture day. It is the expectation that ID cards are visible and worn around the neck on a lanyard. Consequences will be given for not wearing a student ID in the prescribed manner. Lost or damaged student ID cards will be replaced for a fee of $10. We appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to implement this safety & security initiative!
Drop-Off Table, Deliveries, and Federal Food Guidelines
We would like to make everyone aware that the drop-off table located at the Jasper front doors is an unsupervised area. Jasper's staff does not have the capacity to supervise the table or monitor items that become missing. We strongly suggest parents that want to bring food to their students wait and hand deliver the food to their student. If not, there are other options the student can utilize like bringing their lunch or purchasing a lunch from our school cafeteria.
In order to avoid disrupting classes, flowers, balloons, food, and gifts cannot be accepted during the school day (this includes UberEats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc.). All vendors will be turned away. No vendor should attempt to drop food off in the south student entry way. In addition, these items cannot be carried with the students to class. Personal messages are not delivered to students during the instructional day.
Per Federal Nutritional Guidelines, food that is brought to school cannot be shared with other students. Parents cannot bring extra drinks and food for anyone other than their student. This applies even on birthdays and special occasions.
Student Insurance
Student insurance is available for purchase through Markel Insurance Company. Parents may enroll students in the voluntary student accident insurance using the online enrollment process. Markel has dedicated a secure enrollment website at http://markel.sevencorners.com. Please see the documents below for additional details.
Join PTSA Today
Why join PTA? Since we don’t hold traditional fundraisers at Jasper, our membership dollars are key to supporting all the wonderful activities and services offered each year. Membership dollars help fund classroom educational supplies wish list items, student programs, teacher conference registrations, parent education programs, teacher appreciation luncheons, and special amenities throughout the building. This year, we would like to see 100% parent participation in membership. This may be a lofty goal, but everyone can benefit from being a PTA member. . Sign up at www.jasperptsa.org.
