Growing the Kindness Tree
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. At Tiffany Ridge we are focused on preventing bullying before it starts by using empathy and kindness toward everyone. All students have been challenged to do kind things for their classmates and others in our school. We have a kindness tree on the wall across from the Library in the main hallway. When students notice others doing kind things, they can write the act of kindness on a yellow leaf and add it to our kindness tree. Our goal for October is to fill the tree with yellow leaves! Stop by and see the tree when you come to TR for parent/teacher conferences in October!
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
It's time to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences. These will be held on November 3rd (5:00-8:00 PM) and November 4th (12:00-8:00 PM). Our goal is 100% attendance. To sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences, go to this link HERE. Be sure to scroll down to locate your child's teacher's name!
School Picture Retake Day: Wednesday, October 27th
Wagner Portrait Group will be at school to photograph any students who were absent on the initial picture day or any student that needs his/her picture retaken.
If you are having a picture taken as a RETAKE, please make sure your student returns their package in its entirety, including the package insert sheet, to the photographer on retake day.
(Feel free to attach a note to describe what you’d like us to do differently.)

FALL COSTUME PARADE AND CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS
On October 29th, we will have a costume parade and fall parties in our classrooms. Our costume parade will begin at 2:30 and parties will follow from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm. Students will be allowed to wear a costume to school all day. We want to encourage students to wear a costume or a simplified version of their costume to school on this day instead of bringing a costume to school as changing into a costume isn’t included in our plans on this day. Costumes need to be school appropriate!
Unfortunately, our current safety guidelines do not include parents joining the parties, however, we do invite parents to watch the costume parade! You may watch, take pictures and enjoy this part of the afternoon. One class at a time will exit the main front doors, and parade along the main sidewalk to the left towards the parking lot. The parade will continue along the sidewalk that leads to the parking lot at the lower level. Parents who choose to watch the parade may view from either parking lot or along the sidewalk areas on the path to the lower level parking. Classes will then enter as the lower level doors by the cafe, returning to classrooms for parties.

What is a BUZZ Book?
Pumpkin Book Characters!
It is October and that means pumpkins are everywhere! If you would like to participate in an optional Pumpkin Book Character Activity and maybe even win a prize here is what you will need to do:
- Choose your favorite book character and a small or medium pumpkin
- Decorate the pumpkin to look like your favorite book character.
You can decorate it any way you like, paint it, glue things onto it, add any fun details you would like.
Please just don’t carve the pumpkin as they will be on display for a couple weeks, and we do not want them rotting!
Pumpkins can be turned in anytime, just bring them to the library. This project is voluntary but can be a lot of family fun. Check Google and Pinterest for inspiration. Pumpkins will be on display in the library and sent home on Friday October 29th. We cannot wait to see your fabulous creations.
Please include a piece of paper with your pumpkin that includes your name, teacher and the name of your pumpkin character. All participants will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the upcoming book fair. Any questions please email Mrs. Barr at barra@parkhill.k12.mo.us
