AHS Outdoor Adventures Class showcased in the StarTribune
Photo by Brian Peterson, Star Tribune
On February 9th, the Star Tribune newspaper wrote an article highlighting Anoka's Outdoor Adventures class, which is taught by Mr. Evertz. The article speaks on their upcoming trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. AHS has had a strong tradition of celebrating and educating students about the outdoors through Outdoor Adventures for over 25 years, and Mr. Evertz and his students reinforce the demand for relevant classes relating respect for nature to practical life skills.

Boys and Girls State Informational Meeting
Junior students in the top 1/2 of their class have been invited to attend a Boys and Girls State Informational meeting during Advisement on February 13th. American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are premier week-long programs for teaching how the government works while developing leadership skills and an appreciation for rights as a citizen. Participants in either program will have an opportunity to join students from across the state of Minnesota and study the city, county, and state governmental process. As participants, students will run for office, create and enforce laws, and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. This is a great learning experience that can be added to college, job, or scholarship applications next year.

When the Anoka Athletic Alumni Club was formed in 1960, the foundation was to provide an opportunity for Anoka High School athletics alumni an opportunity to gather on an annual basis, while enjoying the benefit of a guest speaker.
This soon evolved into the tradition of awarding a scholarship(s) to current AHS graduation senior student athletes.
Our current focus is to build awareness to our A Club organization, and support the traditions built over our previous 62 years of existence.
Also, the Alumni Club set for the A Club 2023 banquet – set for Monday May 22, 2023.
As previous, this will be held at Greenhaven CC.
We will be supplying three - $5000 scholarships to AHS graduating student athletes.
- The scholarship application is on the A Club website: www.anokaathleticalumniclub.com
- The applications must be completed and submitted by Friday April 14, 2023.
The A Club will provide dinner invitations to the scholarship recipients and their parents for the event on May 22, 2023.
