IMPORTANT COVID-19 Update
Dear Jaguar Families,
I would like to take the opportunity to update you regarding the Coronavirus and how it may impact schools. I apologize for the late notice, but honestly the information has been changing by the hour all day. Currently (March 12, 2020), there are 4 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kansas. All of the confirmed cases are in Johnson County, Kansas. No students in Kansas have been diagnosed with the Coronavirus at this time. That being said, our focus is to protect the health and safety of your children.
We are asking all parents to carefully consider your spring break travel plans. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has guidance available regarding cruise travel and for travel out of the country. Please be attentive to all travel warnings related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and follow all federal regulations when reentering the country, including medical screenings, quarantines and self-reporting.

At the present time, prevention is key to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. We are asking staff and students to remain at home if they are sick. Students should not return to classes, practices/games or any co-curricular activities until they are symptom-free (without the aid of medication) for 24 hours. In addition, you could assist us by implementing the following preventative strategies:
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Clean your hands often by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60%-95% alcohol.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
- Pay attention to your health during travel and for 14 days after you return.
- If you feel sick with a fever or cough or have difficulty breathing:
- Take your temperature.
- Call your healthcare provider immediately.
- Avoid contact with others.
Please know we are monitoring this situation closely, as the information is changing quickly. Parents will be notified via email as updated information becomes available. As I heard someone say today, “this is the time for us to be vigilant, but not a time to panic”. We are making every effort to keep you informed.
Have a safe spring break.
With A Grateful Heart,
Jodie Maddox
