Mountain View 2020
Important Health Procedures
Mountain View Families:
With our phased return to in-person learning in the Boise School District, we want to let our students and families know about changes to our health procedures at school this year. These changes are meant to keep our schools open and our school communities as healthy and safe as possible.
Each school within the Boise School District will have two health offices this year. One health office/area will be designated for non-infectious health concerns such as: medication administration, scrapes, bumps, or orthopedic injuries such as sprained ankles. The other health office/area will be used to screen students who show signs of an infectious illness at school such as: a fever, headache, cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, congestion, runny nose, or fatigue.
If your student has a symptom of illness at school that has not been previously diagnosed, or discussed with the school, you will be called to pick-up your student from school to monitor him/her at home. The student will be kept in the sick health office until he/she is picked-up.
Please make plans ahead of time to be able to pick-up your student within 30 minutes of being called for symptoms of sickness.
The following documents can help you decide if it is safe to send your student to school based on symptoms, or possible exposure to COVID-19:
If you have any questions related to this, please feel free to contact Jane Godfrey-Wold our school nurse or Andrea Cutler our school health tech at (208)854-5700.
Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time and thank you for supporting our efforts to continue to keep our students and staff safe and well.
Sincerely,
Abram Lines
Principal

Are masks required?
Yes. Face coverings that completely cover the person's nose and mouth are required for all students, staff, and visitors while inside all District schools/facilities, including school buses. Please send your child to school with a mask (and a second one in their backpack, if possible, just in case of an accident). Recess will be optional, as they will be outside and socially distancing.
Please consider a discussion with your student (if you haven't already) regarding masks.
- Do not borrow from a friend or lend them yours.
- Make sure it is clean.
- If it is damp, change it.
- Do not touch or adjust.
- Make sure it is a good fit, tight but comfortable. (covers the mouth and nose)
FREE BREAKFAST and LUNCH for ALL students
Will breakfast and lunch be available?
Students will be provided breakfast and lunch if they choose. At this time meals will be provided FREE of charge. We will notify you in advance when meals are no longer free of charge. Students who are not in Phase 1 (grades 3-12 or K-2 on their days not in-person) will be able to pick up food at designated secondary school sites. If your student decides to bring cold lunch, please use a disposable bag if possible.

Important Frequently Asked Questions
Where should we drop off and pick up students before and after school? What is the difference between the two parking lots?
This is a big change from last year.
Bus Loop
The bus loop is the parking lot nearest to Mtn. View park off of Kingston on the south side of campus. Please do not use the this parking lot (the official bus loop) for drop off/pick up. This allows the buses ample space to safely operate.
Student drop off / pick up
The parking lot that is located where our old main parking lot was, off of Cabarton on the north side of campus, is where students should be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. Please pull up to the curb so students can enter and exit the vehicle to and from the sidewalk. This will ensure that we don't have students running through the parking lot creating a dangerous situation. Thank you for your help with this and keeping our students safe.
What time can students arrive in the morning?
Students should not arrive prior to 8:20am for school. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria from 8:20am-8:35am and the first bell is at 8:40am. We encourage students who are not eating breakfast to no arrive until at least 8:30am.
It doesn't appear that the playground is complete yet, where will students go when they arrive in the morning and where will they have recess?
In phase 1 we will be utilizing the grass nearest the primary wing of the school both next to and behind the classrooms. In the morning, prior to school and after they have or have not had breakfast in the cafeteria, students will gather around cones and signs specifically labeled for their class with their teacher's name. During recesses students will be able to engage in structured games and socialize. We anticipate the completion of the new playground (minus the grass) during phase 1.
Will my child need school supplies?
Yes, students will not share supplies this year. Teachers have communicated or will be communicating what supplies will be needed in the classroom. If you are in need of assistance with supplies, please fill out the form at the following link.
Will my child need to bring their device to school?
Your student’s individual teacher will let you know if a device is needed for in-person days. On days when they bring their device and charger they should have them secured in their backpack and keep their backpack on until they arrive in their classroom.
If my child rides their bike, scooter, or skateboard to school will we need to bring a lock?
Yes, students who ride their bike, scooter, or skateboard to school will need to bring a lock to secure their items to the racks. Racks are located in both parking lots. If they will be riding and locking up alone please practice how to use the lock prior to their first day. We are glad to assist students as needed while they become familiar with locking up their items.
