Reading Classroom for grades 6,7,and 8

Week in Review 9/21- 9/25 *6th Grade*

Aha!! We now know our second signpost for reading. The aha moment is an important spot in our reading when a character realizes or understands something or someone. Think how many aha moments we have in real life!

Next week is Homecoming Week so there will be some fun activities thrown into our busy schedule. That doesn't mean my outside of class reading requirement is suspended, it just means some of our school time will not be lesson focused. In the calendar section at the bottom of this newsletter, I've listed the dress up day topics. Go Arrows!

Week in Review 9/21/15 - 9/25/15 *8th Grade*

You know those days that don't go as planned? Well, that was our week. Between the quirky computers, a fire drill and slower than predicted progress, my lesson plans fell apart early in the week. In the end it doesn't matter, we're still learning and working and making a different sort of progress. That means we'll continue our pre-biography work next week and then get ready to dig into our self-choice biographies.

FEATURED READER - Kelly Freymiller

If I had to choose, I would rather be a writer of a book because I can make anything happen. I would write realistic fiction. I like that it could happen and be related to me.

One of my favorite reading experiences was when I was little and my dad read me a book after telling me over and over he couldn't read. I felt happy.

Right I'm reading The Running Dream. It's a good book because I like the main character. She seems very strong. She was in a bus accident and had to have a leg amputated and yet she still thinks she can do a lot of things.

Resources

There are many resources to be used for success at LMS.

If you need a calendar of today's homework, try the Remind site or the school's website.

If you would like to see books, the LMS library catalog is on the school's website under the student tab. The Schreiner Memorial Library (Lancaster's public library) has a website that gives lots of information on their collection, the Southwest Wisconsin Library System collection, the library hours & events and a link to Overdrive for the online collection.
