April Updates!
Ms. Pool's Problem Solvers
POP Go the Spelling Tests...
We have completed the 2nd grade curriculum for Spelling this year!
Therefore we will begin reinforcing the rules through our writing pieces as well as demonstrating our knowledge through POP Spelling
Pop Spelling?
I will be challenging our class throughout the remainder of the year to see if they can demonstrate their knowledge of the spelling rules taught in 2nd grade
The POP words can be any of the words we have learned this year. I will be reinforcing rules as we work on editing our writing pieces.
The Pop Spelling Test will require the students to apply their learning of one spelling rule and demonstrate this in a more realistic way. I will send the student's demonstration of learning of the Spelling Rules home to give parents the opportunity to reinforce rules at home. This allows for the opportunity for your child to apply the rules in many different scenarios (words), rather than only a Spelling Test format. If they have only memorized and forgotten, you will see evidence of this and will be able to go back to that Spelling City to practice and reinforce.
These demonstrations of learning will be sent home after the student has taken them and parents can go over the POP words with their child to identify if improvement is needed for particular rules. Since they are POP, there will not be a specific day each week; however on the days we engage in this activity, evidence will be sent home in their student binders.
Historical Figure Research
As stated last week in a parent email, your child has selected a historical figure to research.
We will continue to work on these this week in class
Feel free to work on it with your child at home (resources are found in blue folder as well as MackInVia app on their iPad)-not required
Students will be presenting their historical figure by writing a script that informs their audience of important accomplishments that made this person something to talk about in history!
I have communicated to the students that they are allowed to dress up like their historical figure if they would like; however, it is not mandatory
Presentations will be on Friday, April 29th

I wonder if Texas has a lot of these plants?
