Hawk Talk
Message from Mr. Carlson
The PTO Fall Fundraiser ends today, September 29th!
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our PTO Fall Fundraiser. There are still a few hours left to donate online. Our 99pledges site closes at midnight tonight.
The kids did an amazing job! So far we have collected over 26-thousand dollars.
That will be a huge help toward our new playground and technology for students.
Their great fundraising work also earned students a school wide Pajama Day,
which will take place next Tuesday, October 3rd.
Mr. Carlson will also be taking a Pie to the face... watch for pictures to come.
Student's will get some extra recess and a movie day in the classroom.
The school will celebrate all the effort put into the fundraiser
with a Bubble Run next Friday, October 6th.
Thank you again for all you do.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Sign ups for Parent-Teacher conferences opened up on Thursday.
An email was sent out earlier in the week with instructions on how to sign up.
Conferences this fall will be a combination of in-person and virtual. A survey was sent to parents a few weeks ago asking preferences for conference day and type of conference. If you filled out the survey, please sign up for the type of conference and day you requested. If you did not fill out the survey, you will need to select an in-person conference.
If you have not yet signed up for a time, you can click the link below to do so.

Safety Message from Mr. Carlson
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. If an emergency situation should occur in our schools, Centennial uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) in partnership with our local police departments to help ensure clear communication and action by staff, students, and families. Staff and students will be trained throughout the school year on the procedures.
If an emergency arises, the District will first ensure our students and staff are safe, and once the District has accurate information, a communication will be sent to families by email and text, depending on the preferences you have indicated. Messages will reference the response protocols below. We ask families to support the safety priority and be patient and not call the school office or text your student during an emergency situation. We need to keep networks clear for emergency information.
Discussions led by your student’s teacher took place this week with the students. They were done in a very supportive way with the students and grade level in mind.
Five Emergency Categories and Actions:
Hold (Hold inside the classroom): Used when there is an incident inside the school when hallways need to be cleared due to a medical emergency or a spill. Learning continues as usual.
Secure (No one allowed in or out): Used when there is an incident outside the school such as an emergency in the neighborhood or a wild animal on the playground. Learning continues as usual.
Lockdown (Locked classrooms): Used when there is a dangerous situation inside or close by the building. An additional option for students and staff who cannot access a locked room is to evacuate and be transported off-site for reunification with families.
Evacuate (Move to a safe location): Used for fire or when threat inside the school and the building is in “lockdown.”
Shelter (Shelter for safety): Used if there is bad weather such as a tornado or hazardous situation.
More information on SRP and student training can be found on the Centennial website.
Questions? Please contact the school’s office.
Thank you for your partnership in helping to keep our schools safe.

Reminder: Immunization Information
Minnesota law requires children enrolled in childcare, early childhood education, or school to be immunized against certain diseases, unless the child is medically or non-medically exempt.
If proper documentation is not provided, students will be unable to attend school after November 1st, 2023. What you need to do:
- Contact your health care provider and review your student’s immunization status to make sure they are up to date.
- If you missed a required vaccination, make an appointment with a healthcare provider or local clinic as soon as possible.
- Follow up with your students’ school if they have reached out to you regarding your student’s immunization status.
- Turn in medical (must be signed by health care provider) and non-medical (must be notarized) exemption forms to your child’s school.
Visit the MDH website for vaccine schedules, exemption forms and more information including where to get free/low cost immunizations today. Please reach out to your student’s school for any questions. Please note, K-12 immunization status is available on Campus Parent Portal.
