Counselor's Corner

In April, the Rising Scholars students got to take a field trip to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter! These students got to participate in four different sessions with education students at Gustavus, go on a tour around campus, check out a dorm room and have a fun lunch near the student cafeteria. I think the student favorite activity was the escape room activity they took part in. This was an “all hands on deck” type of team building exercise. They had to solve puzzles, brain teasers, riddles and tricky math problems to unlock to code to open the briefcase. They had a blast! They also took part in basketball games/activities, learned about refusal skills and played Gustavus trivia. Overall, it was a wonderful trip, and our students represented Washington well.

At the Bus Stop

Now that the weather is warmer, children are more active before and after school. This means that our children at the bus stop are moving around/playing more, and they are walking or biking to school in greater numbers.

Please talk with your child(ren) about the importance of practicing good citizenship by respecting the property of others. Staying on the sidewalk and off of yards, flower beds and other areas that belong to area residents is an important part of being a good neighbor and responsible citizen.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to have this important conversation.
