For this unit we focus more on the economics of Texas during this time and how Texas seceded from the union and that few actual battles were fought in Texas but they were a major source of revenue for the south due to shipping of cotton through the ports. After the war, we’ll discuss how Reconstruction changed the economy for many people and jobs in the railroad and cattle industry began to grow. Other highlights will include Juneteenth and how Texas under the Confederacy was another flag over Texas.
