Donate Blood and Register to be a Marrow Donor
The Central California Blood Center and The Richter Center encourage you to help save up to three lives by donating blood at the third blood drive of 2013-14 academic year! The blood drive kicks-off on Tuesday, February 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Residence Dining Hall, East Room. The drive will continue on Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For the convenience of all, there will be four donation locations on Wednesday and Thursday: blood mobiles will be parked at University Student Union, Kremen School of Education Building, Engineering East, and the Maple Mall.
Interested parties can also register to be marrow donors, for free, thanks to a generous sponsorship from Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. To join the marrow registry, donors must visit the Residence Dining Hall location on Tuesday or the University Student Union location on Wednesday/Thursday.
All donors will receive a t-shirt and special coupons.
To donate you must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old. Photo ID and Social Security Number are required at donor registration. Please eat a good meal and drink plenty of fluids four hours prior to donation. Donating blood is not painful and takes less than an hour.
For more information on blood donation, visit the Central California Blood Center or call the organization at 559.224.2900.
Kids Day Registration is Now Open!
Kids Day is one of the valley’s largest and most visible special events to benefit Children’s Hospital Central California. Thousands of volunteers throughout the valley help by selling a special “Kids Day” edition of the Fresno Bee for one-dollar. Last year over 1,200 Fresno State students, faculty, and staff helped to do their part by raising more than $37,000! Since its beginning, Kids Day has raised over $4 million for Children's Hospital Central California.
Please join us to help the children and families that are served by the hospital. Faculty, students and staff can help in three ways: (1) volunteer to sell papers, (2) help recruit other volunteers by sharing information on this event with friends, students and colleagues and (3) buy the papers from those around campus!
Visit the Richter Center website to register today!
For questions or more information, please contact Renee Delport in the Richter Center at 559.278.7063 or by email to rdelport@csufresno.edu.
We look forward to your support on Tuesday, March 4th!

#ASBeTheChange
Words of Inspiration
At last week's Community Service Opportunities Fair, hundreds of students identified ways to make an impact. Reflecting back on the event in the context of today's quote, I can't help thinking that Fresno State students have a whole lot of heart!
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they have the heart. – Elizabeth Andrew
