What's Happening at the Hive
Issue #4
The Buzz
Hello Florida Ruffin Ridley School Families and Friends,
I hope that these past two weeks have brought you some opportunities for both engagement and growth as well as rest and reflection. Perhaps you got an opportunity to explore outdoors on the long weekend. Or maybe you spent some time connecting with Indigenous Peoples’ history to honor the day. Or maybe you managed to set aside a little extra time to pause and connect with family and friends or engage in a mindful practice as the trees burst with colors and we fully embrace the autumn season. However you spent these past two weeks I hope that you've found sparks of joy along the way.
Our Hive has certainly been buzzing these past two weeks. Classes are solidifying their routines and expectations so they have a strong foundation to build off of as we ramp up work expectations and the curriculum becomes more rigorous. Fall plantings have begun in our garden and around our grounds. Our girls volleyball team remains undefeated and they are feeling confident a championship trophy is in their future. Our FRR Bees are flying from the Hive on field trips exploring places such as the Praise Shadows art gallery, The Frederick Law Olmstead Museum, Lawton Park, and Hall's Pond. Our flag football league (DFL) is off to a fantastic start and has become the gathering spot on Friday afternoons for students from many of the other K-8 schools as well as some alumni at BHS. There is a joyful hum in the hallway in the mornings as students make their way to their classes ready for each full day and the opportunities for engagement and growth.
It was wonderful connecting with so many of you at our Open House events during the week of October 3rd. You can find below the slide deck from our time together in the Multipurpose Room as well as slide decks with information from all of our specialists who work within each of the grade level bands.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback please don't hesitate to reach out.
