KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
We're doing things a little differently this year. We are combining the Kindergarten Round-Up and Rodeo into one event. There are two time slots that you will be able to choose from to attend.
To help us better plan for the 2020-21 school year, if you have an incoming kindergartner, please complete the link below. If you have a neighbor with an incoming kindergartner, feel free to share the link or direct them to our Sunflower website to complete the form. We can't wait to meet all of our incoming kindergarten Eagles!
FLASHLIGHT READING PARTY
Our students earned a combined 20,237 Eagle Tickets since the start of the school year! This means they have officially earned the next two milestone celebrations: reading by flashlight (20-30 minutes) and an arts & craft party.
With respect to the flashlight reading party, we will celebrate the week of January 20th. This year each grade level will participate on an assigned day of the week: Wednesday, January 22 (Kdg. & preK); Thursday, January 23 (Grade 1 & 2), & Friday, January 24 (Gr. 3 & 4).
A limited number of flashlights are available from the office. If your student(s) can bring a flashlight from home on their schedule day, that will enable every student to be able to have a flashlight to use!
The arts & craft party schedule should be completed in future weeks.

Show Your Support of #ZeroReasonsWhy
The Gardner Edgerton Zero Reasons Why Store is open for a second and final time this year! All students in grades 5-12 were given a #ZeroReasonsWhy shirt as a symbol to support mental health education and suicide prevention. The shirts are to remind students and adults there are zero reasons why we need to feel alone and zero reasons why we can’t talk about our feelings to a trusted adult.
Now YOU have the opportunity to purchase one to show your community support. To order, go here: https://www.bsnteamsports.com/shop/mUfCkcWx5n.

Sunflower Site Council Meetings 2019-2020
The Sunflower Site Council will be meeting at 6 pm in the library on the following dates:
9/17/19, 11/12/19, 2/11/20, 4/14/20.
All meetings are open to the public.
Kansas schools are required to establish site councils composed of the principal, teachers and other school personnel, parents, business representatives, and other community groups.
Site councils have a responsibility to provide advice and counsel in the following areas: evaluating district and school performance goals and objectives, determining methods to meet those goals and objectives, and other areas as requested by the board of education.
Remember, the work of the site council is advisory only; it makes recommendations, not decisions.
