Kindergarten Registration is Thursday, April 6 for both the Traditional and Readiness Kindergarten Programs
Registration for Kindergarten students for the 2017-18 school year has been set for Thursday, April 6th. This registration day is for both the Traditional Kindergarten program for students who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2017 and for the optional, two-year Readiness Kindergarten program for students who will be four years old on or before August 1, 2017. All 2017 Kindergarten classes, Readiness and Traditional, will be full-day classes meeting every day, Monday-Friday, and students are eligible for all programs including lunch & book assistance.
Participation in the Readiness class is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The child must be toilet-trained in order to attend.
Parents are asked to call the school at 654-2922 to set up a registration appointment. Please be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization record with you that day. Children are not “fully” registered until these items are on file.

PARENT REMINDERS:
- As Valentine’s Day approaches, please keep in mind that MES will not accept deliveries of balloons to school due to safety concerns as stated in the Student Handbook.
- Please continue to monitor your child’s lunch account by visiting the school webpage and clicking on the “EZ Pay” logo in the upper right corner to enter the meal payment program where you can find your child’s account balance.
- Winter is not over yet! To make sure you get the calls about delays or cancellations, always let the school know if your phone number changes. If there is a threat of severe weather, please do not call the school. As soon as the Superintendent makes a decision regarding school closing, she will notify you via the automated calling system. School staff will not have that information until the announcement is made. We appreciate your patience.
- With the cold and flu season upon us we’d like to ask your help in keeping your child at home if he has a fever of 100° or higher until he is fever free, without medication for 24 hours. Also, your child should stay home if she has vomited in the past 24 hours. Thank you for your help in keeping our school healthy!

The Wheels on the bus go round, and round.........
Once in a while changes need to be made in your child's transportation plan. If you do have an afternoon bus change, it is always best to send a note to school with your child, either on paper or in their agenda, rather than calling the school.
If it's a last minute change and you must call the school, please do so as soon as possible (before 2:30 p.m.) so the message can be relayed to your child before he/she boards the bus.
Finally, please keep in mind that emailing the teacher about a change may not be a good idea unless you are doing it at least a day before. Teachers are busy conducting the class and away from their desks most of the day; sometimes the teacher may be absent. Either situation could result in your child not getting the message.
It's important to keep changes to a minimum. Frequent changes, especially at the last minute, are confusing and upsetting for children. We want to make sure every student has a safe, happy bus ride home at the end of their school day. Thank you for your help.
