Mudsock 2018 VIP Tickets on sale now
https://hsefoundation.org/mudsock-2018-vip-tickets-sale-now/
As the Mudsock football game week approaches, the annual Pasta Bowl food drive is set to commence. Get Fired Up for the annual HSE Pasta Bowl. Several schools within our district are coming together to help support more than 4 local hunger relief organizations by collecting pasta for the 2018 Pasta Bowl. In addition to collecting boxes of pasta; the Pasta Bowl is also designed to help raise awareness for the local 1 in 7 students that struggle with food insecurity. This number increases to 1 in 4 students in some of our HSE buildings and we need your help! We are asking the you combine forces with HRE and help us achieve our goal of at least 1400 pounds of pasta to donate to this year's collection. Last year, HRE was the Elementary Pasta Bowl Champions and we want to make sure that we keep our title again this year by collecting even MORE items! The best way to achieve this goal is by averaging two boxes of pasta per student. If HRE achieves their overall goal of 1400 pounds of pasta, then every class will be rewarded with an extra recess. To top that, the class that collects the most pasta within each grade level earns an extra special recess with Mrs. Ricketts and Mrs. Morales! Please join us as we come together to provide and serve our students in need right here in Fishers. Thank you for your support!
Calling All 4th Graders! It's SPELL BOWL Time!
Do you TWEET?
HRE Library Corner: Hello from Mrs. Avery!
For the next 2 months, I'm focusing on a grade level and I push into each classroom and talk about their digital footprint. It's important to know that you are responsible for yourself, your friends and family, and the greater community and that we need to be mindful about what we are doing online. If you are interested in learning more, please explore the site. There are tons of materials that are helpful and I especially love looking up movie reviews, books, youtube, and other types of media to make sure it is appropriate for my child. Here is the link to the review site:

This week, I am also helping to roll out Epic and Freckle in the classrooms. If your child is using Epic at school, it is free while they are using our school's wifi. As soon as they get home, however, they will not be able to access their classroom Epic account if they are using a different wifi signal. If you are interested in having your child use Epic at home, you will need to signup for the free trial and you'll then be charged a monthly fee. You will have access to many more titles than our free account and it is something that can help build your child's reading life if it is something that you would like to explore on your own.
Please contact me if you have any questions!
School Fees
Book and iPad Fees: You will be receiving a Skylert as soon as your child's book and iPad rental fees have been posted. The fees should post by the end of the month. Be sure to put checks in a sealed envelope and include your student’s name, teacher’s name, and student ID.
Lunch Assistance: Information regarding frequently asked questions for completing a Free & Reduced Meal Benefit Application can be found at this link: https://www.hseschools.org/services/food. PTO Fall Carnival
SPONSORSHIPS & DONATIONS
Greetings! We are looking for families and local businesses to support our amazing students and teachers by becoming sponsors of the annual Hoosier Road Elementary Fall Carnival. Volunteers and Lunch Visitors
Hoosier Road Elementary always has many opportunities for parents to become involved. Whether it’s through volunteering in the classroom or a PTO event, attending classroom activities or even eating lunch with your child, you must have a valid background check on file and view the anti-bullying training on-line. Background checks are valid for three years. Please allow up to 6 business days for checks to be completed. Please follow this link for complete directions: http://www.hse.k12.in.us/ADM/parents/volunteering.aspx
We want you to be able to interact with our students but we also need to adhere to strict safety guidelines set forth by our school district. Look for an email from Safe Visitor Solutions which will issue a bar code unique to you. Please bring that bar code (on your phone or on paper) on your first visit to HRE so we may take your photo! Thank you for your compliance and for helping to keep all of our students safe.
School Directory
We have had a number of parents wanting to find ways to schedule playdates, parties, etc. with their children’s classmates. HSE has made this possible with our Online School Directory. This service is only available for those families that choose to “OPT IN”.
You may select what information you would like other parents to see (such as address, phone numbers) for birthday invitations and the like. If you would like to “OPT IN” please follow the steps below:
- Login to Skyward
- Click on “MY ACCOUNT” tab in the upper right corner
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the School Directory section
- Choose which information you would like to share
- Click Save in the upper right corner
Please note that the only people that will have access to this, are the families at Hoosier Road Elementary. If you have older children at other schools, their information will only be shared with the families at their school. We hope this will help our students to be able to stay connected outside of school hours.
