Spotlight on Speech

Hello North Families! As we prepare for the summer, it’s important to continue to think about ways to enrich language development. Luckily, almost any activity you do can be turned into a language activity. Here are just a few fun examples:

Play “I Spy” - This game is great for listening comprehension and describing.

Go on a Nature Hike - Pointing out and discussing different things that you see can be a great way to label, describe, and compare/contrast.

Read Together- This is the easiest way to introduce new vocabulary, hear examples of correct grammatical structure, and spark great discussions. Taking a trip to the library, reading outside, or watching a movie then reading a book that connects to the movie are some great ways to make this fun!

Here’s to a great finish to the school year and a great summer!

Notice from our Nurse

Please do not send your students to school wearing flip flops. They break easily and are not sturdy enough, which increases the likelihood of injury. Although the warmer weather means sandals are in season, everyone is safer at school in sturdier shoes.

Thank you,

Nurse Kimber

Art Remarks

Hi North Families! We've made it to the final month of school - hooray! I am so pleased to have had your talented young artists for my fourth year of teaching, and I am looking forward to seeing them this fall. Thanks so much for all of the support, families! Have a happy and restful summer! :)

Artfully yours,

Miss Hopson

Music Notes

Dearest Parents,

Our Spring Concerts for Kindergarten, 3rd, and 4th-grade students are just around the corner. Our talented singers and musicians have been working so hard getting ready and prepared to present the final concerts of the year.

Each concert will be held Tuesday, May 18th at North Elementary. The number of attendees will be limited to 4 adults per student. Please make sure we abide by the district policies in regards to masks and fever-free so everyone can experience a night of musical performances. Kindergarten will perform right at 5 pm, followed by the 4th-grade farewell concert, 6 pm. 3rd grade will close the show with their presentation of Treasure Island at 7 pm. I expect all students to be at the gymnasium sitting in their positions on the risers ready to perform 15 minutes before their slotted time. It is very important to know that another performance will be taking place before their concert. Please be respectful and wait until the gymnasium is clear before entering.

Also, our 4th-grade talent is on May 20th, the same day as the farewell party. The number of attendees for this event will be limited to 3 adults per student. Please make sure we abide by the district policies in regards to masks and fever-free so everyone can experience a night of musical performances. More information will be sent out next week.

"CHECK OUT" WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE LIBRARY

The BOGO Book fair was a success. Thank you to everyone who was able to purchase books. With summer upon us, it is great to have books your child is interested in and continue reading throughout the summer. We have had a great time in the library this year. I can’t believe the end of the year is so close to being over. Our last checkout day will be May 7th. We would like to have all of our library books turned in by the 14th. If your child receives a note about missing books, please just check at home. I don’t charge fines, but would like to get all of our books back to the library.

Happy Reading!!

STAY ON "TRACK" WITH PE

In PE we just finished up the PACER test. I was very proud of the students' efforts and everyone showed great improvement throughout the year. Now we are gearing up for play day and playing some of the students favorite games as we close out the year. We had a lot of fun this year, and I am looking forward to a strong finish to close out a great school year!
