Title 1 Learning Lab News

Collegewood Elementary School

Welcome to Title 1

Hello and welcome to Title 1! My name is Mindy Martin and I am the Title 1 Specialist at Collegewood. It is a great privilege to be entrusted with the care of our students who need some extra support! It is my goal that our students feel seen, heard, respected and supported in their academic journey. Our classroom teachers and Title 1 support staff provide targeted intervention, monitor our Title 1 students' progress, and celebrate their growth along the way! Throughout this year together, know that I am available and desire to communicate and collaborate with you as part of a team.

Required Title 1 Teacher/Parent/Student Compacts

When your child qualifies for this federally funded program, it is also required by federal law that we receive a signed compact (or agreement) between the teacher, the parent(s), and the student. This signed form only signifies that all parties are aware of the ways we can work together as a team for the benefit of the student. It is not a consent form and does not imply anything other than a joint effort being made by all parties.

If you haven't had a chance to sign this document, please do so and email it back to your child's teacher. I'll attach a copy below. Thank you so much!

Big picture

Mindy Martin - Title 1 Specialist

Hello! I'd like to introduce myself. I grew up in the Walnut area and attended schools in Walnut. WVUSD is a great place to be both as a student and an educator. I received both my Teaching Credential and Master's Degree from CSU Fullerton. My husband and I have two boys, a labradoodle, a cat, and a guinea pig. :) I have been an educator for 16 years and have taught Kinder, 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. This will be my 5th year as Collegewood's Title 1 Specialist. I absolutely love my job! Empowering students to believe in themselves and make progress towards their goals is what puts a bounce in my step.

Camille Wright - Intervention Teacher

I’m so excited to be teaching in Collegewood’s Learning Lab this year! I was born and raised in Irvine, CA. I went to Cal State Fullerton for my B.S. in Child Development, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and Master’s in Education. I believe that reading lifts the spirit and can take you anywhere! My goal is to help students develop a passion for reading and pursuing knowledge. Before I became a teacher, I worked at Disneyland. My favorite quote about teaching is “Truly wonderful the mind of a child is” by Master Yoda.
