Mr. Ross' Weekly Newsletter
October 31, 2014
Happy Halloween!
“It's fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.”
What Will We Be Learning This Week?
Math
Accelerated Math grading will look slightly different in the second quarter. Each student will have a goal of mastering 5 objectives each week, but there will not be a penalty for not meeting this goal. Instead, students who meet this goal will receive 5 bonus points on their weekly test average, with a high score still being 100% for the week. Consistently meeting (or not meeting) the 5 objective weekly goal will also be factored into the math participation grade.
Students must scan at least one test and one practice each week. Failure to do so will result in a 0% for the respective grade for the week.
Language Arts
We will resume our Words Their Way spelling lists this week.
I will begin sending home reading EOG practice passages for homework this week. This week we will only have one due Thursday but usually there will be one due Tuesday and one due Thursday. These are designed to help students to prepare for the EOG in the spring. We will go over these in class the day they are due. These assignments will not be graded.
