Te Whare Akoranga o Maungawhau, April 7, 2022
From The Principal
Kia ora koutou,
With our second day of Conferences today, we've enjoyed a wealth of positive, constructive learning-focused conversations, and the feedback has been extremely positive.
Hopefully, this has offered an important chance to re-connect, and further insight into the first term of the school year. I know there have been many successes to share, and we can all be reassured that the children have engaged so well with their teachers, their learning and their classmates.
I'd like to commend the teachers, children and support staff for their hard work getting to this point, and for the focus on learning that we've managed to achieve, along with the fantastic parent support and turnout we have had at the Conferences, which is appreciated.
Next week brings the final week of term, of course, and a reminder that we finish at the usual time of 3pm on Thursday, 14th (due to Good Friday). Thanks to the PTA for arranging for ice-blocks to be on sale after school on the last day once again!
Finally, you'll be aware of further changes to the Alert Level settings, mandates, vaccine pass and facemask requirements that have recently been announced. For school purposes, this will have an impact on our protocols moving forward but - for now - we will stay the course without any significant changes.
Further detail on arrangements next term (hopefully at 'orange' setting) will be provided, with an expectation that there will be further relaxations of the public health measures that have been in place this term.
Events and Reminders
- Wed, 13 April: New entrant cohort visit 2
- Thurs, 14 April: End of Term 1 - school finishes at 3pm

Mother's Day fundraiser
This Mother's Day (Sunday May 8th) the PTA are running a promotion in partnership with Salt and Oil - a kiwi company that specialise in Natural Bath Soaks, Magnesium Oils & Gifts.
The offer is running from April 1st - April 15th
Please don't forget - in your cart you MUST add code CANOPY to be counted towards the fundraising total.
Bath soaks are not just for granny! The NZ men’s rugby team use the SO:Active blend to help with muscle recovery after matches. This is a great one to support the sporty people in your life.
If you don’t have a bath but would still like to support our fundraiser, why not try a Magnesium Oil spray? Both oils are a great way to boost your magnesium levels. Simply spray onto your skin and rub it in. Great for easing your muscles after a workout.
Second hand uniform shop
Well done to the team that run the uniform shop - with a return of the onsite shop $1,200 was raised yesterday.
Upcoming dates
- Friday 6th May
- Wednesday 25th May
- Friday 10th June
- Friday 1st July
Donations needed
Uniforms can be dropped off at the school office by individuals during school hours - adults must wear a mask and only remain onsite for the drop off to the office.
Quiz Fundraiser - Save the date
Annually the PTA support a social fundraising event that is a great occasion for parents/caregivers to connect and have a bit of fun. Due to Covid, the last quiz night was back in 2019 - it was a real success and raised a very useful sum of money for MENPS.
We are excited to announce the date for 2022 - start pulling together your team and booking a baby sitter.
August 13th - Alexandra Park
Tickets will be on sale in July.
Many thanks to the Quiz team from 2021 for your continued support.
