Equally as difficult to believe is the fact that we are well into the second quarter, a third of the year has passed, and second quarter progress reports are being posted. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students who are working very hard to achieve their goals for the year. I pray that your child is living up to your expectations and educational goals. Should you have any concerns about your child’s educational progress, I would encourage you to contact their teacher either by calling the office, or emailing the teacher directly. As always, I pray that our children continue in their successful journey to enhance their education with the Lord at the center of everything they do.
Peace,
Trevor Donnelly

Heavenly Fund
Tuition alone does not cover the school’s cost of operation and the programs necessary to provide the high quality education that OLQHS provides. Through your support of this fund, our teachers have access to resources required for an exemplary education, our community is strengthened, and our students have every opportunity to become all God calls them to be.
The OLQHS faculty as a whole has already wholeheartedly supported this campaign with a total pledge of $7,284. Our faculty, as Catholic school teachers, give above and beyond each and every day and their job is their mission. Please join them in support of this annual fundraising initiative. The money raised from this campaign will be divided evenly between the school’s operating budget for special projects and improvements, and the school’s endowment, the OLQHS Trust.
If each OLQHS family gives $100 - 100 x 500 = $50,000 for our school! Please prayerfully consider a gift!

Community Coffee Cash Program
The Community Cash For Schools® program supports participating schools that collect Proofs of Purchase from Community® products. These product Proofs of Purchase can be redeemed for cash that each school can spend to improve their school and fund the things they need. Schools can choose to allocate the money toward new textbooks, computers or even events. For decades, Community Cash for Schools has helped participating schools generate millions of dollars within the program.

Kindergarten
1st Grade
First Graders have been busy writing stories and using songs to practice double facts!
We had so much fun creating our “Math Monster” and seeing all the different ways a number can be represented. They are also singing their hearts out at mass!
2nd Grade
2nd graders had a great time celebrating Halloween with their 8th grade buddies!
3rd Grade
4th Grade
4th graders made character trait pumpkins! We learned so much about each of the students' beautiful personalities with this project.
Each student wrote a paragraph telling about their character traits, why these traits defined them, and then decorated a pumpkin as themself!
5th Grade
The annual 5th grade monster is alive! Mrs. Fink's math and science class created this monster as part of the Global Monster Project. This STEM project is done in collaboration with classes from across the USA and around the world! Stay tuned to find out the monster's name - all OLQHS classes will have the opportunity to submit name suggestions!
The 5th grade also started their fall garden! We cannot wait to see it grow!
6th Grade
6th graders had a great time at the annual Chem Expo. They also did an amazing job helping us celebrate our All Saints Day Liturgy. They each researched a different saint.

The Art World
Sit back and relax. I have a very long list of new members in the Artsonia Hall of Fame. In Kindergarten we have Cecilia Lebert, Drew Derouen, Remie McCann, Briggs Savant, Benjamin Link, Edward LeBlanc, Emma Mouhot, Luke Thornhill, and Laney Holman. Our new First Grade members are Grant Soileau, Aubrey Acord, Aubrey Thornhill, Braedon Rodriguez, Matthew Lanier, Marian McNally, Kinley Leger, Anna Kate Downs, and Ava Lindsay.
In Second Grade we have Ryleigh Williams, Mia Sookdial, and Ellis Eskew. Artsonia's new Hall of Famers in Third Grade are Gabe Walker, Amelia Broussard, Ben Stine, and Bentley Soileau. And last, but not least, our new Fourth Grade members are Adyson Swire and Hudson Savant. Whew! Thank you parents, family, and friends for joining our fan clubs and making wonderful comments on their artwork.
In Kindergarten they designed and colored their own Jack-O-Lanterns for Halloween. They also learned the big new word "Perspective" and they colored three balls and placed them on a sheet to show that the farther away something is from your eye, the smaller it appears. First Graders drew Black Cats and a Jack-O-Lantern on a fence for Halloween. We are now working on a "Cool" Turkey (he's wearing shades) which involves their feet and mine.
Our Second Graders are taking on the very difficult task of drawing a tree and then adding a lovely environment to make it a beautiful Fall Day. They will color with pencil colors. The Third Graders drew the beautifully hideous Witchy-Poo for Halloween and now will begin a "real" turkey for Thanksgiving.
Our Fourth Graders really did a wonderful job in drawing and coloring Mary, Mother of Jesus, for our Advent Card Contest. There were at least two dozen entries that could have won, but the judges narrowed it to five (They are pictured below). The winners were: First Place: Adrien Allen; Second Place: Jack Credeur; Third Place: Jackson Pruitt; Fourth Place: Addison Acord (not pictured); and Fifth Place: Adyson Swire. Congratulations to ALL!! Thank you to all the Judges--you know who you are!
Our Sixth Grade Rotation students Zentangled a Skull for the Day of the Dead and will start their own Abstract this week. Our local artist, Mr. Jay Bowdon will be coming in to teach both the Sixth and Seventh Graders his style of Abstract. Seventh Graders made a Zentangled Nutcracker for Christmas and will be doing an Abstract with Mr. Bowdon as well.
Our Eighth Grade Fine Arts Survey Class is just finishing up their masks for the play, "The King and I". Gabriella Dimitrov is pictured below wearing her mask. The students will begin a History of Quilting study this week and will view some of the quilts that I have made. Each student will design three blocks for a new quilt which I will make. We are also taking a field trip to the Henning House in Sulphur to view the quilts of the Contraband Quilters (of which I am a member).
There are SO many exciting things going on in Art. We are busy creating, making messes, and having FUN!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Brenda Foshee, Art

asbestos statement
Each year parents must be informed that the school has complied with all national standards regarding asbestos on campus. Certain vinyl floors and the panels that are below the quad windows will have to be handled appropriately if ever replaced. Our report indicates that existing asbestos is in good condition and we have the highest rating given. You are welcome to examine the asbestos file in the office if desired.
