Choose Joy!
Week of September 28, 2020
Orange Shirt Day This Wednesday
On Wednesday, September 30th at 12:30 p.m., we will be setting aside time for our first ever school wide virtual assembly to honour Orange Shirt Day and the stories of Residential Schools with students. When we know better, we do better and we move forward together in Reconcilliation.
If you wish to join the assembly, please click here for the Google Meet Link. Please log in at 12:25pm so we can begin at 12:30pm as Mme Gravelle will grant you access until 12:30pm. At 12:30pm she will be co-leading the assembly and presentation with Mrs. Weller.
We acknowledge Orange Shirt Day in September because it is the time of year when children were taken from their homes to residential schools. September is also an excellent time to discuss racism and bullying and set the stage for a school year grounded in peace, love and kindness.
Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
Please make sure you wear orange on Wednesday!

Thank you to the Big People!
We send a very special thank you
to each of the adults who are loving and caring for OLA littles.
You are doing a great job, and we are so grateful for your partnership. We know it's challenging to come and pick up children in the middle of the day when they begin to show symptoms. We also know it's no easy task to follow the Alberta Health Guidelines for returning to school after symptoms begin.
Because of your honesty and commitment to work within the guidelines set out for schools, you are making a big difference in keeping children, staff and OLA families safe and healthy.
You've got this!
Together, we've got this!

Establishing Your Child's Baseline
Many children have pre-existing conditions that will help your child's teacher and the OLA team navigate through symptoms. It is encouraged that if your child has allergies or other pre-existing conditions to have a Covid Test while the symptoms are present. Having a negative test during these symptoms establishes your child's baseline normal. Once a negative test is achieved, please connect with Mme Gravelle or Mrs. Weller at 780-998-3716.
