Principal Update - December 2016
From the Principal's Desk
Greetings Orchard Hill Families!
The time between Thanksgiving and the winter holidays always seems to fly by so quickly! I hope that your recent Parent-Teacher conferences were productive and that together with your child's teacher future goals were set. The next progress report will be available on February 3 and you will receive information on how to access your child's report card through Genesis/Parent Resources.
This month, everyone at our school focused on the character pillar of Trustworthiness. It is important to build this understanding with young children. Weekly classroom themes included:
- Tell the truth
- Do what is right and do what you say you are going to do
- Be a good friend
Please be sure to review with your child how they can show that they are demonstrating good character both at home and in school.
As the winter holidays near, excitement naturally builds with young children. Our PTA sponsored the annual Holiday Gift Fair where students had an opportunity to shop for family members or friends. The event was very successful and the children were so excited to find that special gift that will bring a smile to the special people in their lives. After New Year's, the PTA will be bringing visiting authors to the school where children will get to hear first-hand how authors bring a book from an idea to publication. Grace Lin will visit with Kindergarten and first grade classes and David Adler will hold assemblies with second grade classes. For more information about these authors and their books please visit the links below.
Along with Mrs. Dudley, I wish all of our Orchard Hill families the very best this holiday season and a safe, healthy new year in 2017!
Warmest regards,
Kathleen Scotti
