First Day of School is Wednesday, September 8!
Arrival:
- Students should arrive between 7:45 and 8:05 AM.
- Parent drop-off-- please use Zone 1 (westside loop) and Zone 2 (east main parking lot). Zone 3 is for pick up only.
- The main office doors (east entrance) and the doors to the commons (west entrance) will be our two entry points.
- Masks are required upon entry.
- Class starts promptly at 8:10.
Breakfast:
- We will open our doors at 7:45 for students who want to come in for a free breakfast.
First period classes will be posted in the commons and on PowerSchool.
- First period teachers will hand out full schedules
Dismissal:
- All students will be dismissed at 2:40. There is not a staggered release time.
- Zones 1, 2 and 3 (see map below) may be used for picking students up from school.
- Please arrange the preferred pick-up location with your child ahead of time.
Schedules will be live by 3:00 PM, Tuesday, in PowerSchool

- To create a parent account, see instructions below.
- You will need your child’s STUDENT ID number and birth date. Student IDs have not changed. Secondary students use their student ID for computer login at school. Older elementary students may also know their ID. For younger students, you may contact your school for the ID. Your Student ID will also be on your student information form that will come home the first day of school.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Zones
- Bus lane is for busses only.
- Parent Drop-off use Zone 1 or Zone 2.
- Parent Pick-up use Zones 1, 2 or 3. Arrange location ahead of time with your student. All students are released at the same time, and we will not be calling in car locations.
- Zone 3 is for overflow pick up time only.

For the most up-to-date information and forms, please check our website under the Athletics menu. All forms and fees must be turned in prior to the first day of practice in order to participate.

- 7th and 8th Grade - First day of practice 9/8/2021, 2:50-4:30 PM. Practice daily for first two weeks. Calendar of practice dates and meets will be distributed at the Parent Meeting on Sept. 13.
- 6th grade intramural - First day of practice 9/15/2021. Please attend the parent meeting on Sept 13 to get the practice dates. (For your planning purposes...most weeks, 6th grade intramural practices will be M, T, W.)
- Parent Meeting September 13 for 6th, 7th, & 8th @ Orchard Park under the pavilion at 4:20 P.M. We will hand out the full practice schedule at that time.
A Typical Selkirk Student Day-at-a-Glance

Breakfast:
- We will open our doors at 7:45 for students who want to come in for a free breakfast.
- Late start on Thursday: breakfast is at 8:45.
Schedules:
- Student schedules will be posted September 7 in PowerSchool.
- Students will have 6 periods (Math, Science, ELA, History and two electives).
- During class time, students will be spaced at 3 feet for social distancing.
- While students are outside for breaks, PE, or classroom activities, masks are not required.
Lockers:
- Our hallway lockers are not spaced to allow for social distancing, so we are asking students to bring their belongings in a backpack. Our desks all have hooks for hanging backpacks.
- PE lockers will be issued to students in PE and sports. Our PE teachers will assign lockers to allow for appropriate social distancing. More information on PE uniforms will be coming soon.
Lunch:
- Each grade level will have a 30 minute lunch period that includes an opportunity for outside recess time.
- School lunch is free this year.
- Students will have choice over where to sit, but will remain spaced at 6 feet for social distancing.

Covid Protocols
- Communication of any cases in our school will be very similar to last year
- Masks are required in the school building for students, staff, and visitors. (masks are not required outside)
- Social distancing in classrooms will be at 3 ft
- Social distancing during lunch will be 6 ft. There will not be assigned seats at lunch.
- There will be Covid testing available at school (more details to come).
- Quarantining for close contact will be similar to last year.
- Isolation for positive cases will be 10 days.
