Message From Central Road School
Mrs. Joanna Shostachuk, School Principal
A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 9/26/2021
Dear Central Road Families:
The weather could not be any nicer! We engaged in a packed week of teaching and learning. I was able to pop into classrooms all week long where I witnessed students engaged, focused, and dedicated to their tasks at hand. It is hard to believe that October is around the corner but we are truly in full swing at school. Thank you for taking a moment to read our weekly parent communication as we honor a strong home-school connection. Please enjoy the weekend with family and friends while remaining healthy too. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Kindest Regards,
Joanna Shostachuk

THANK A CENTRAL ROAD STAFF MEMBER
Teachers in general love this time of year. Central Road teachers and staff members take the prospect of beginning a new year to a whole new level. They prepare their classrooms, plan lessons, organize schedules, review student records, and think about all of the possibilities the year ahead holds. As much as we recognize their efforts and successes here at school, nothing means more to a teacher or staff member than a kind word from a student or his/her family. As we get the year underway, I invite you to take notice of the things you see your child's teacher do, hear your child's teacher say, or the things you hear your child gush with excitement about related to their teacher. We've included this simple form for you to submit should you feel so inclined to do so. Children in full day school spend more of their waking day with their teacher than they do with their parents. We thank you for entrusting your child with us! This is going to be a great school year.

PTA Fundraiser
We are excited to offer a way to give back to CENTRAL ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! On October 5th, we will be kicking off our fall fundraiser to help benefit our students and staff. Our STEAM ENGINE fundraiser, more specifically, will help with funding student activities, classroom supplies and learning tools, in addition to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math initiatives in our school. It is going to be AWESOME, and we are excited to get started!
This fundraiser will be very easy for you. It only requires about 10 minutes of your time. •Your students can earn great prizes, just for their effort. No money required! This is an online, donation-based fundraiser, and the donation requests can go to people you know anywhere in the world. That means, no direct pressure on your shoulders.
Students will be bringing home more information next week after our Virtual Kick Off Video. Please help your student register and complete the Golden Ticket assignment THAT VERY NIGHT! All students who complete the Golden Ticket assignment will receive fun PRIZES and it does not require any money to register. We will also be doing some fun drawings for an iPad and TWO Mini Party Fridges stuffed with CASH!

Shield Testing Update
Our scheduled day of the week for Shield Testing is each Friday morning and we completed our 2nd Friday of testing on September 24th. Shield testing took place for students in grades 1-6. We continue to work out the details with Shield as to when our KDG & ECDEC students may be tested. Our plan is to conduct Shield testing quickly, efficiently and with safety each Friday morning. Results will be available within 24- 48 hours. We will contact the parents/guardians of any student who may receive a positive test result only. If your child is at school the time we may receive a positive result, you will be contacted to pick them up.
Health Requirements
All six grade students, kindergarten, preschool students and any new students at Central Road School are required to meet health examination and immunization requirements. Students not in compliance will be subject to exclusion on October 15th from school until Illinois stated requirements are met. If needed, please contact your child's pediatrican to schedule an exam appointment. We appreciate you doing so if needed.
If you have any questions regarding your child's health, you may reach me at patela1@ccsd15.net or at 847-963-5102. We will work together to ensure all guidelines are followed and clearly understood while keeping our students all safe and healthy!
Thank you for your patience.
