Back to School Playground Party, Tuesday, August 18th from 6:00-7:00 pm

Plan to see old friends and meet new ones at the Pleasant Street School 5th annual back to school playground party on Tuesday, August 18th from 6:00-7:00 pm. Our Parent/Teacher Organization will be providing juice and cookies. Families are invited to bring a dessert to share if you would like! Principal Ellis, as well as teachers who are able to attend, will be there to welcome you.

Back to School Details

School Bus Information: The district contracts with Merrifield Bus Company for our student transportation. The bus routes will be published in the Athol Daily News and are also linked here. We request that families review safe bus riding expectations with their children prior to the start of the school year. Starting and ending the day well on the bus is an important part of your child's day.

Suggested School Supplies: We have included a school supply list here as a courtesy for families. If you are unable to purchase some of these items the school will provide them.

Class Lists: Fingers crossed we are expecting to have class lists posted in time for our back to school playground party on August 18th. We are continuing to see changes in our enrollment and we want to insure all children are placed in balanced classes.

School hours- drop off and pick up: Pleasant Street is open daily from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The school office is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Children can enter the building for breakfast or be supervised on the playground between 8:00 am and 8:30. The school day begins promptly at 8:30 am and children arriving after this time are considered tardy. We ask that families do not arrive at school before 8:00 am. As a reminder, idling vehicles are not permitted to be near the school building. We also ask that families follow all traffic signs and speed limits and to avoid distractions. Afterschool pick up is a particularly busy time and we need everyone's attention to maintain safety for all children.

Food Services Information

Our school lunch and breakfast programs follow strict federal nutritional guidelines and regulations. These guidelines establish a standard for school meals to provide one-third of the recommended daily allowance of protein, vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, calcium, and calories. While our programs follow these guidelines there may be offerings that are unfamiliar or unappealing to your youngster! Oh, the plight of the picky eater! Meals are an important time for a child to refuel so we encourage families to look through the monthly menus and to make meal decisions with your child that will promote his or her success during this important part of the day.

For more information about school lunch programs please visit the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, School Nutrition Program website.

Food Service Prices:

Breakfast: Our district elementary schools provide universal free breakfast. Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 8:25 am.

Lunch: $2.45 full price, reduced price lunches are .40 cents.

We encourage all families to complete a free and reduced lunch price form to see if you qualify. If families are directly certified you do not need to complete this form. If you have questions about our lunch program or if you may qualify for assistance please contact the school.

Dear Families,

We want to promote continued problem solving and mathematical thinking over the summer. Students have been participating in lessons on "summer slide" in relation to reading and their retention of skills. Well, summer slide also happens in math! We have attached some summer calendar math activity packets below to keep your children fresh with their skills over the summer. These calendar packets were developed by the Cambridge Public Schools and are rich with activities, resources, websites and fun ideas to bring math to life.
