Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.

A Message from Principal Purfurst

Thank you to everyone for your help in our change in arrival procedures this past week. We have noticed that this change makes it easier for our students to get their days started and has helped with the flow of students entering the building. We will continue to use this procedure moving forward!

An Update from Dean Hawkins

Safety Information:

Thank you for your help with adhering to our safety protocols in and around the parking lots and bus lanes. We continue to offer a new crosswalk behind the bus lanes to the north so that there is not a need to walk through the buses in order to pick up your student. We are fortunate enough to have a couple parent volunteers help us with crosswalk duties before and after school as well as lunch recesses. Please let us know if you would also be interested in joining our safety team! 303-655-5103

Parking Lot: A few reminders as we move into our Fourth week of school:

  • Please stay in your car if you are dropping your student off or picking them up in the “Hug and Go” lane. If you need to get out of your car, please park in the lot to do so.

  • Please pull forward as far as you can before having your student exit your vehicle on the passenger side.

  • Please use one of our crosswalks when walking through the lot or across the street when approaching the school.

  • Please yield to all buses if you are using the bus lane to drop off your student in the morning. Our buses will always have the right away and will not have time to wait for you to drop your student off if you are in the bus lane when they arrive in the morning.

  • Please use the crosswalks in front and behind the buses after school when picking up your student. Walking between the buses is not the safest way to your student and we need this to stop immediately. We have created a cross walk behind the buses to help with this process.

Evacuation Drill:

Our monthly Evacuation Drill for September is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00pm.

School Meals and Free/Reduced Meal Applications

Last year all students were able to eat breakfast and lunch for free thanks to a waiver from the USDA waivers. Unfortunately those waivers are expiring. But many students are still eligible for free or reduced cost meals! Applications for free/reduced meals can be found here! Even if you've previously applied, new applications are required each year, so please make sure to fill out an application!

Paying for Breakfast and Lunches

If you need to add money to your child's account for breakfast or lunch, you can do so by paying online, or bringing cash or a check to the school. Click here for more information!

Attendance

Attendance is an important piece of helping your child be successful at school! Please help us give your child every chance to succeed by getting them to school on time, every day, unless they are sick.

How sick is too sick to come to school? Click here to see the guidance we use from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

If your child will be out of school, please be sure to call our attendance line at 303-655-5111.

Teachers begin to walk students into the school starting at 7:45 AM each morning. If your child arrives after that time, they will need to enter the building through the main doors at the front of the building.

School begins at 7:50 AM. If you child arrives after 7:50 AM, they will need to be signed in at the main office.

Checking Students Out Early

If you need to check your student out from school prior to the end of the school day, please note that the office will no longer call them down prior to your arrival. Once you arrive at school to pick up you child we will call them down to the office for you. This will allow us to keep students in class for as long as possible, because every minute matters!

Whole Child Needs Assessment

Please see this letter from Ms. A regarding the 27J School Whole Child Needs Assessment.
