Maize South Elementary School
November 2022
A message from Principal Mrs. Carrie Thrash
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we enter the month of November, autumn is in full swing, and we have been enjoying the beautiful weather. Our Pack Parties and Den Meetings are a success, with students learning the importance of teamwork and recognizing their excellence! Students are also learning their den cheers and making new friends.
School will be closed for students on Monday, November 21st, through Friday, November 25th, for Fall Break. We hope everyone has plans to rest and enjoy family. As we approach Thanksgiving, we would like to take the time to thank all of our MSE families for your continued support and participation in the many aspects of your children’s education. At MSE School, we are also thankful for the highly talented and dedicated faculty and staff who have the privilege of helping your children learn and grow each day. Together we create a partnership that is essential to the success of our MSE Wolves, and for that, we continue to be thankful.

THE DEN
POP TAB CHALLENGE
Pop tab Challenge
We have started our first pop tab challenge of the year! Students will be competing by Dens to see which Den can bring in the most pop tabs. The winning Den will receive popsicles. We will collect pop tabs every Friday, with the last collection date on Friday, December 2nd. Please continue to collect, as we will have a 2nd pop tab challenge during the 3rd quarter.
Thank you for your support!
COUNSELOR CORNER
This month we are working on school success skills in each of our classrooms. We focus on a specific skill such as listening, personal space, paying attention or managing stress and go into detail about how to work on that skill at school. Another area that we focus on with all students is managing big emotions. One area that many students ask for help with is managing anxiety/worry. Attached is a sheet that has different tips and tricks you can use at home if you have a student that struggles with this big emotion! As always, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have!
