Nurse's Notes
I am including a SCDHEC resource regarding the Covid-19 vaccine and its availability. The SCDHEC website also includes an array of information regarding Covid-19 cases, testing sites in SC, etc., vaccine allocation and how to sign up for the vaccine when it is your assigned phase in the rollout.
Please continue to follow the public health measures that we've been advised to adhere to:
- Wear a well-fitting, 3-ply mask
- Get tested and stay home when you're sick
- Follow CDC and SCDHEC guidelines on quarantine/isolation
- Avoid large gatherings
- Practice physical distancing
- Frequent hand washing
- Proper respiratory hygiene
- Clean/disinfect frequently touch surfaces
- Limit non-essential travel
Reminders:
Absences:
Please notify the office if your child is absent. This applies to personal days or illness-related absences. If you or a family member have a known exposure to Covid-19 or a household Covid illness, please notify MSA immediately so that we can take the appropriate action.
Montessori School of Anderson's Illness Policy as stated in the handbook: MSA Students are prohibited from attending classes while ill. If your child is absent, please notify the front office. MSA is proactive in monitoring all illnesses and makes every effort to prevent illnesses from spreading. When you have verification that your child has a communicable disease, please notify the office immediately. It is preferable to bring your child late or keep him/her out for another day in order to fully recuperate rather than risk exposing the student body to a potentially communicable illness. All students must be fever, vomiting and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the aid of medications before returning to school. If your child has missed school due to illness, he/she may not participate in any other school related activity on that day or evening.
MASKS:
Please continue to send your child with a face covering each day. It is important that they have a clean, well-fitting face mask. We do provide a disposable option if theirs becomes soiled while at school.
Stay safe, and I wish all of you continued good health.

Mirror Ornament STEAM Activity
Students in the Upper School took part in a STEAM activity where they made mirrored glass ornaments. In this experiment, students use a silvering process to plate a sheet of glass with a thin layer of silver metal by reducing silver ions in solution with dextrose, similar to the industrial process used to create mirrors. See this gallery for more photos of the experiment.
